Movie Reviews of Youth without YouthMovie Review: Cinematic and Humanistic Philosophical Masterpiece from FFC Summary: 5 Stars
This breathtakingly sensitive and humanistic story is beautifully filmed with loving care by FFC. The foil for the touching exploration and esoteric examination of the human condition is the backdrop of Nazi aggression and genocide during WW2. Normally I share basic opinions of the most published film critics regarding films they review. I could not disagree more with the prevailing opinions of published reviews I have read regarding this film. FFC has set a very high standard for script writers and directors who want to create worthwhile innovative cinematic art.
Movie Review: Celebrated Work of a True Master Summary: 5 Stars
I was about to write an in-depth review which Youth Without Youth hugely deserves, covering the production and the exploration of Zhuangzi's "Butterfly Dream" themes until I realised that nothing sums it up better than the succinct comment written on the cover of the DVD:"..evidently the work of a master. A curious blend of romance, mystery and philosophical speculation." What more can I say other than I thoroughly enjoy this stunningly beautiful and thoughtful production and three cheers to the great FFC and Tim Roth.
Movie Review: subjective masterpiece Summary: 5 Stars
Coppolla obviously impassioned by the philosher/writer Elaides work of fiction, has matched his subjective selected words with equally subjective images to create a perfect balance of literal and subjective in a wonderful tender love story. I watched this film reacting elated by its understanding of reality and bawling overs its tender love story. Thanks Mr. Coppolla, for coming out of your 10 year absence and bringing us this treasure.....haircutterbill Baltimore,Md
Movie Review: A good film at last !!! Summary: 5 Stars
This fascinating film is not "run-of-the-mill". Flooded with thousands of titles every year we struggle in a deep deficit of films that appeal to intellectual speculation. Based on an excellent story by Mircea Eliade, it takes Coppola to deal with the unreal with the same objectivity as with the real. Excellent interpretations.
Movie Review: Youth Without Youth Summary: 5 Stars
This film continues in the tradition of many Francis Ford Coppola artist works. The theme of the film reminds me of another movie titled "Benjamin Buttons" however Youth Without Youth has a political slant to it that makes it more interesting. The cinematography is stunning as always in a Coppola film.
