Movie Review: Cute but too short

This one is a long ways from the TV and OVA specials. At 20 episodes, this little series shows more fanservice than anything else but it makes up for that with comedy. This little gem will keep you laughing to the end. During the TV series, which is 52 episodes long it makes you laugh and cry at times. This series will have you laughing hard and getting an eyeful of pure Your Under Arrest! comedy. Dont think just because its funny doesnt mean its just a comedy, it is more than that. The developing relationship between Ken Nakajima and Miyuki Kobayakawa, which is really slow since both are afraid to admit their feelings. Yet Natsumi Tsujimoto and Shouji Toukairin's relationship shoots off quicker than Miyuki and Ken's romance. One of the most tender scenes of the whole series was Natsumi kissing Shouji Toukairin. If you loved the TV and OVA then you will love this little gem.
Summary of You're Under Arrest - Mini-Specials (Vol. 1)
Based on a manga by Kosuke Fujishima (Oh My Goddess!), You're Under Arrest began as an OVA in 1994 that was expanded into a long-running broadcast series and a feature; twenty 6-minute "specials" aired on the Wonderful show in 1999. Slightly klutzy Miyuki and tough-talking Natsumi are mismatched roommates and partners at the Bokuto Police Station. They specialize in cases involving peeping toms, panty Thieves, and speeders. The criminals are invariably male and always get beaten up or zapped with some electrical device. Several of the mini-episodes feature weak storytelling: when Miyuki and Natsumi persuade their transvestite colleague Futaba to pose as the naked ghost who haunts a traffic tunnel, the real ghost inexplicably shows up. A fairly silly fan service comedy, You're Under Arrest plays like a milder version of Burn-Up Excess. Will they be able to protect their undergarments and co-workers from the depredations of an army of Tokyo's oversexed peeping Toms? Can Natsumi's finances hold out until her next paycheck clears? Chaos ensues and neither speeders nor sneaks stand a chance as Miyuki and Natsumi show that crime doesn't pay!
