Movie Review: Great program

I echo the below reviewer--best to start this program when your child is young. Not sure how well the program would have worked had we decided to start our son now, at 22 months, or after we'd exposed him to other tv programs. Luckily, we started early--at 3 months though slightly later would likely have been fine also--and we were consistent in using it. It took 16 months for him to learn to really read. He can now look at almost any word, whether he's seen the word before or not, and say it correctly.
Understanding is another issue but that comes with time and greater exposure to the world as well as concepts. Ie. if my son saw a book by "Edgar Allan Poe," he'd be able to read the name but won't know who that is or that the words are the name of the author. On the other hand, for objects and concepts that children learn early on (hot/cold, umbrella, car, etc.), he is able to both read and understand what he's reading.
As a parent, I couldn't have asked for more. The results are terrific. I highly recommend these videos as well as the word cards and books to prospective purchasers who think that learning to read at an early age (and enjoying words and word games) is a great advantage to give children.
