Movie Review: Excellent Yoga Workout
Summary: 5 Stars
I recommend the Yoga Journal's Energy Balance Yoga over the full body workout dvd. You get the same stances and more. Furthermore, names of the poses are given with the Energy Balance Yoga dvd far more often than with this one. Once you practice each position you could do them without looking at the dvd, but the total body workout moves you into a position and forgets to tell you the name of the position.
However there are some instructions regarding use of props within the total body workout that is not in the Energy Balance dvd.
If you enjoy a great workout and simple for most anyone to do at least 90% of the poses, then this workout is really beneficial.

The absence of verbal instruction combined with powerful yoga postures practiced along the shores of Maui Island help you connect with the energy around you, whether you?re new to yoga or an experienced practitioner looking for new inspiration.Yoga Journal's approach to instructional yoga tapes is always innovative, but their hour-long Yoga Practice for Energy is truly different. Filmed at the beach on Maui, the sessions Awakening, Centering, Creativity, Reflection, and Surrender offer movements that follow the cycle of the sun through the course of a day. Viewers are encouraged to first try the entire tape several times, and then use the sessions that correspond to their needs at any particular time. For example, if you've just trudged in the door from a hectic day, you may want to use the Reflection session, in which "a cooling, tranquil series of forward bends and hip openers let all activities of the day seep in like watercolors setting into paper." There is almost no narrative accompanying the five practice sessions, and if you are a beginner you may feel lost at first viewing.
