This transfer is indeed ANAMORPHIC Widescreen (like the prior edition) at an aspect ratio of 1.85:1.
The film itself has been "digitally remastered," and I must say it does look a lot crisper and brighter. The CD of the soundtrack, however, looks/sounds the same as what is currently available (as far as I can tell). The DVD case comes in a gorgeous, fun, glittery sleeve with new box art, i.e. gone is the airbrushed close-up of Kira's face... hello, Kira skating for Gay Pride!
I was pleasantly surprised to find an insert promoting the (far superior and stupendously hilarious) Broadway musical version of XANADU, currently starring Cheyenne Jackson and Kerry Butler, who was recently nominated for the Tony for Best Actress in a Musical. The promo code gets you 20% off.
I love this lackluster film for nostalgic reasons and for the fantastic ELO + ONJ tunes. This brand new edition gives this camp classic/guilty pleasure the treatment it deserves!
