Movie Reviews of Wyoma: African Healing Dance

Movie Review: Terrific dance video and great exercise!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this dvd because I was out of shape, looking for some variety in my workout routine, and because it was so well rated.

Well, I tried it out starting with the intro to African dance moves, went on to the warm up, and barely made it through the first dance, huffing and puffing (I said I was out of shape!). It really felt like a good workout, and had me moving every part of my body.

Not only is it a fun workout, but it's a great dvd to watch. My 89-year-old mother, was so entertained by the video, that she was too absorbed to laugh at me as I tried to keep up while still learning the moves. In addition, I'm so sure that my eldest daughter (and grandaughters) will love dancing along with this video that I'm back at Amazon to order one for them to enjoy.

You really can't go wrong with this dvd. Even if you're not in good enough shape to really dance along, you can do whatever moves you can to the beat of the drums while enjoying the visual stimulation of the dancers.

Movie Review: Packed with good stuff

Movie Review: African Healing Dance Really Works
Summary: 5 Stars

From the first movement I learned I have been enjoying something real from this dvd.

I bought this dvd mainly to learn an expressive vocabulary, and I find that when I hear music then I call on each new movement to express myself.

I think there is a physical healing dimension in addition to wonderful, joyful feelings. I had to move slowly with my shoulders at first, due to crackles and pops the first couple of times. If I have sore muscles from other activities a little dance movement will work that out. Dance movement moves synovial fluid around like yoga and mobility drills, lubricating and removing inflammatory toxins. That is preventive as well as restorative, physically.

Movie Review: Excelente!!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

All I can say is wow!!! I did read some reviews before purchasing this dvd but you know what you have to experience doing the movements yourself and give your own review. I love this dvd!!! I did take some african dance classes when I was young. So I did recognize some of the movements and let me tell you I was looking for something I could sweat to and believe me when I say I have found it. This dvd is fun and will get you to sweating from the warm into the dances. I am glad I brought it and will be working out to it every chance I get.

Movie Review: a totally comprehensive and fantastic course in African dance
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a course, not a workout. Wyoma provides fundamentals, explains the creative narrative behind each MOVE (!!!!) and describes differences between dances. She also has an improv section. I am currently studying W. African dance and Afro-Brasilian, and find THIS DVD to be an inivaluable addition to my studies. This is for folks, however, who want more than a cursory routine or overview of African dance. This is the real deal. The outdoor setting is superlative.
