Movie Reviews of Wristcutters - A Love StoryMovie Review: A Love Story in Purgatory Summary: 4 StarsThis was a really fun, odd, charming, and bizarre indie movie. Right up my alley! Loved the story premise, and the odd cast of characters. An uplifting movie about suicide and purgatory...who would have figured? Being a Tom Waits fan, it was also great to see him and hear his music in the movie. I loved it, I'll probably buy this on DVD. Very similar feel to the movies of Jim Jarmusch or Finnish director Aki Kaurism?ki...a couple of my favorites. Highly recommended for fans of those writers/directors.
Movie Review: I loved this movie. Summary: 4 StarsWhile the production standards for this indie film where not very high, it is remarkably original, witty and endearing. I also loved the cast and the original soundtrack to this film. The film offers us hope, even after we have given up on hope.
Movie Review: Refreshing! Summary: 5 StarsI loved this movie.
Whenever I mention the title to anyone, they kind of make a face. And I follow it up with, "No no, it's a really good film. It's a love story. With a lot of dark humor." No body really gets it until they watch it though.
I'm not going to spoil it for anyone but it's a very touching story. I haven't read the story it was based on, but I'll have to now.
Movie Review: Bad movie Summary: 1 StarsI regret purchasing this movie. First the title, then after watching it for 10 minutes, you have no clue as to what is happening. 10 thumbs down
Movie Review: The Society of Suicides Summary: 4 StarsMy, how fairy tales have changed.
This is as odd--and arresting and effective and memorable--as a good Tom Waits song. (How interesting to see him cast in this movie, still a carnival barker--but now barking for The Force at the top of the Ferris wheel.)
There are surprisingly few moments when this funky, challenged, pieced-together tale--just like the old Toyota Camry which co-stars in this film--doesn't deliver. Enjoy the ride (and, please, stay on this side of suicide.)
