Movie Review: Girl Power
Summary: 5 Stars

Tess McGill is a secretary in NYC. After her boss pulls one prank too many on her she leaves the firm that she had been at and goes to work for Katherine Parker.

Several weeks after working for Katherine Tess comes to her with an idea. The company that they work for is trying to get into t.v. but have not been successful. Tess tells Katherine that they should try radio first and it would also take care of a takeover bid by a Japanese company. Katherine seems blase about the idea and does nothing about it before she goes on a ski vacation.

During the vacation Katherine breaks her leg and needs Tess to water the plants at her parents house (that she is staying at.) While at Katherine's house she finds a tape recorder with Katherine dictating a note about Tess' idea to go to Jack Trainer.

Tess meets up with Jack and tells him about the idea, posing as a co-worker of Katherine's. They get working on the proposal, and soon sparks are flying. Unfortunately before they can get to far Katherine comes back and it turns out she and Jack were an item, but Jack never got around to ending it before she broke her leg.

What happens next? See Working Girl, a very good movie with an amazing cast.

Movie Review: Working Girl is my favorite film...
Summary: 5 Stars

Feel-good, sexy, funny, serious, all in the right places, Working Girl is one of those rare films that gets everything right and is truly perfect. Everytime I watch it is like the first time, when the film comes on TV I even find myself there till it's over, no matter where I came in at. Melanie Griffith has never been better in a film, her Tess is one of the most memorable female film characters ever. Surrounding her is a grade-A ensemble of some of the best actors in Hollywood today. Sigourney Weaver is just wonderful as the villainous boss, and Harrison Ford is always on-hand as the man who helps Tess get her deal to corporates and falls in love on the way. And lets not forget Joan Cusack in one of her best performances as Tess' gal-pal Sin. The acting is just wonderful, the screenplay is so sharp at even at two hours the film doesn't feel long enough. And Carly Simon's Let The River Run is probably the greatest song ever written for a film. It would be easy to write a song about a working girl, but Carly doesn't do that, what she gives us is a anthem for the American dreamer. Working Girl is a event everyone should witness.

Movie Review: Excellent chemistry and scriptwork...
Summary: 5 Stars

No special effects and no cheesy gimicks. What you do get with Working Girl is a wonderful blend of acting talent (Harrison Ford, Melanie Griffith [believe it or not] and Sigourney Weaver)and outstanding chemistry by both principal and supporting casts.

How good is this movie? Even a gifted director couldn't hurt it. Mike Nochols does a fantastic job of making these varied talents meld into magnificense.
The best example is when Jack (Harrison Ford) meets Tess ( Melanie Griffith) but does not reveal his identity. The result was one of the most memorable moments of the film:

Tess proclaims: "I have a head for business, and a bod for sin...is there anything wrong with that?"

Astonished, Jack quips "No...I didn't know they let bad girls into these things."

The film is filled with moments such as these. The supporting cast is awesome. Joan Cusack deserves special kudos for her performance.

"Coffee, Tea...ME?"

This film is a must for any respectable collector. I highly recommend that you buy this film, not just rent it.

Movie Review: The only Melanie Griffith film worth seeing!
Summary: 5 Stars

Melanie Griffith usually annoys the crap out of me, but she's really good in this film, playing the part of a smart woman who is stuck in a secretary's job and gets a golden opportunity to strut her stuff in the corporate world when her successful (and bitchy) boss is out of town. Even though women have come a long way in the business world since 1988, we still have a long way to go, and I think all women will identify with the character of Tess and the stereotypes she fights so hard to overcome.

Griffith is great in the film, and so is Sigourney Weaver, who plays the evil boss. However, the real stars of this movie are Harrison Forsd, who is dazzling and witty in his charming role, and Joan Cusack, who plays Griffith's best friend. (Actually, the REAL star of the film is Cusack's eye makeup. MY GOD, did women actually wear their faces that way sixteen years ago?! And the HAIR! I've never seen so much big hair in one movie!)

Movie Review: goes to show ever body wants to make it somewhere.....

A Classic
'Working Girl' is a classic. The villian, Ms. Weaver, is both deliciously evil as well as scarily realistic. Harrison Ford is excellent as the white knight, with a good mix of Wasp entitlement and sweaty armpits. This is before his acting slid to just staring lost at the screen for various lengths of time to convey different emotions. The movie brings me to the verge of tears at least three times and the ending is beautiful. The soundtrack, featuring Carly Simon and the St. Thomas boys choir, is sublime. When 'Let the River Run' hits as the camera pulls away from Melanie within her new office in the World Trade Center you can only wish that life is that fair.
