Bored with most current rock, I entered the world of Goth Rock through
Evanescence, then Nightwish, Leave's Eyes and now these folks.
Within Temptation has a great band, but and incredible singer (which is
normal for most Goth Rock bands) This captures the group at their
earlier phase, and is very good. If you don't have their most recent live show "Black Symphony" you are really missing some great music.
Movie Review: Not as "live" as you might expect!

The Silent Force was one of my favourite albums at the time, and, needless to say, I was very excited about seeing how they would execute their rich sound on stage. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find that the method is to get the drummer and singer to perform to a backing tape of bass, guitars, and orchestra. I obviously can't speak for the other reviewers of this DVD nor anyone else, but personally when I see live music I want to see LIVE music. That may seem obvious, but so many bands these days think it's acceptable to just sing to a backing tape and call it a concert.
That being said, it is wonderful to at least see Sharon and Stephen in action. Sharon has a great onstage persona and it's very easy to fall in love with her in this concert! She sings and performs wonderfully. The concert is also set on the most amazing stage I have ever seen, with ships and cruisers passing by to the side. Hardcore fans will not be dissapointed by the sheer volume of features which include a LOT of behind-the-scenes footage, some videoclips, and also some snippets from other live concerts.
Hardcore fans will obviously not go past this release but those only interested in seeing a genuine live concert should look probably look elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch the DVD because I didn't notice that it was in the PAL format before I ordered it, so I had to return the product. I understand, though, that Within Temptation will be releasing a concert on Blu-ray sometime soon, so I hope to get that one when it is released.
There wasn't an option for N/A on the star rating.
