Movie Reviews of Wind

Movie Review: Woo Hoo!!! It's here! (almost)
Summary: 5 Stars

A friend of mine told me I might like this film, and man was he right. The only film I wanted on DVD was WIND. Had it been available I would have bought my DVD player a year earlier. I've always found this is a great film for inspiration for people who build things; in my case: software. Design, testing, manufacturing, use, competition -- all done in glorous colour, magnificent sea scenery, beautiful boats, helpful commentary, and exceptional musical score. But until March 2003, my VHS copy's low resolution made it revolting to play in my home theatre's 10' screen. I'm so happy.

Movie Review: A must have in your DVD collection!
Summary: 5 Stars

I got my DVD version from Amazon yesterday (3/13/03), a replacement for my battered VHS tape. I've noticed some scenes in the movie trailer that were not in the movie, and I don't know why they were excluded from it.

The digital enhanced video is overwhelmingly better than the VHS, but I wish the digital cameras were available back when they filmed this movie. The digital audio really puts you in the middle of the actions.

One regret, I wish I had seen this movie in the theater when it came out.

I can't wait to go sailing in a laser this summer...

Movie Review: Every thing but salt spray
Summary: 5 Stars

In real sailing, going into a stiff wind under full sail (tacking)is most exciting. The sensation of speed and power is awsome. The boat leaps from each wave top. The deck tilts recklessly. One rail diappears under the rushng water. You can scarcely shout over the noise of wind and sea.
"Wind" captures this action in the last thirty minutes like being there. The only thing missing is salt spray lashing your face. No race to the finish has ever been more thrilling. Your good sound is a must for full emersion. One of my ten best ever.

Movie Review: A Great Sailing Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I missplaced the sailing bug I used to have in my younger days and reclaimed it a bit when I bought 'Wind' used on VHS. I lent it to someone and missed it ever since. The quality of the racing scenes of both the 12 meter boats and the super high adrenelin 14's kept reminding over the years what I have been missing till I bought my own 29' sailboat this year. The movie impressed me so much that I bought it again on DVD and watch the race scenes over and over. A movie to enhance your collection, no doubt at all.

Movie Review: Yes!
Summary: 5 Stars

It's about time somebody smartened up & decided to finally put this film in dvd format. This movie is awesome. the cinimatography & music combine for a great experience. even if you know nothing about sailing. Plus, me being from Newport, RI, where some of it was shot, i share something more in common with this movie than most people. can't wait for my copy to come.
