Movie Review: "My people sit in chairs and chatter..."
Summary: 5 Stars
For anyone who is a fan of Wilde, this movie is excellent. Well acted, cleverly cast, divinely scripted, it really has it all. For those unfamiliar with Wilde, if you can appreciate the decadence of the lifestyle and see the hypocrisy of the time, you will thoroughly enjoy it as well. As his plays were, the film is scripted as more of a vehicle for his various epigrams and witticisms than anything else, but it gets in all the history and various necessary facts to pull it together. A sympathetic and brilliant portrayal by the incomparable Stephen Fry and a viciously truthful performance bythe very talented Jude Law complete the package. A must for any modern aesthete.
