Movie Reviews of Who's Harry Crumb?

Movie Review: Candy is a crack-up
Summary: 5 Stars

John Candy is just too funny in this movie, with his different costumes and "prat-fall" antics

Movie Review: Wishing for deleted scenes
Summary: 4 Stars

I really enjoyed this movie, even though I'm not the biggest John Candy fan. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon when Saturday night is still keeping you from getting off the couch.

My only complaint is that I remember first seeing the movie on TV when I was visiting a friend in New York, and there was a hilarious scene that took place in the wine cellar, John Candy accidentally starts a machine that shoots clay pigeons all over the cellar and floods it with wine.

The scene must have been added to the TV broadcast to cover the bra scene being deleted, but was not part of the theatrical release and is not on the DVD. Which is weird, because if you watch the scene where they play footsie under the table at dinner, one of John Candy's pant legs is stained halfway up the shin with wine. With the deletion of the scene, that makes no sense.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Maybe if they ever release this movie in Blue Ray they will have the "director's cut" or some actual features added, like the deleted scenes.

Anyone else ever notice this? Or am I a complete continuity nerd?

Movie Review: Better than the critics say
Summary: 4 Stars

Most critics gave this movie a bad review, but if you're a fan of John Candy, there's no reason not to like this movie. This is one of his better movies. It's about a kidnapping that John's charactor is hired to solve...or not. He's hired because his boss is actually the kidnapper (don't worry, there's no suprise twist or anything like that) so he hires Harry Crumb because apparently he doesn't expect him to solve the case. All fans of John Candy should get this movie. It has a decent supporting cast as well, such as Jeffrey Jones, Annie Potts, Shawnee Smith, Tim Thomerson, Joe Flahrety and a few no-names.

Movie Review: The Master of Disguise
Summary: 4 Stars

John Candy pulls out all the stops in this action packed spoof of private detective thrillers. His antics will cause you to spit out your beer and roll on the floor in uncontrollable laughter. A great companion to the the other classic Candy flicks; "The Great Outdoors", "Only the Lonely", "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles", and "Uncle Buck". Any of the above are clearly superior to the films that came out near to or after his death.

Movie Review: If you're a John Candy fan.......
Summary: 4 Stars

You have to watch this flick. The story is actually only ok. But, John Candy brings the whole thing to life. He's a private investigator.... His various undercover personas go anywhere from a shiek to a hair dresser to a race horse jockey.

Truly funny. I've seen the film several times. Even now, when it's on regular TV, I can't stop myself from watching it.

If you like John Candy, this is a definite must see.
