Movie Reviews of White Oleander (Widescreen)

Movie Review: Terrific Drama
Summary: 5 Stars

From beginning to end, there is drama, drama, and more drama. The movie is well-written and acted. What's more is the soundtrack, by Thomas Newman I believe, adds an element of sadness for Astrid's, "little girl lost" theme. White Oleander is a story I've never seen before. It's a mostly female cast, starring a teenager growing up in foster care, and the ending was not what I expected at all. Ahhh...it's so nice to watch a movie I can't figure out the ending to in the first five minutes. ~Thanks Kosminsky!

Movie Review: Truely amazing, a wonderful storytelling...
Summary: 5 Stars

Alison Lohman deliveres an awe-inspiring performance in this amazing adaptation of the book White Oleander. While I've never read the book, the movie is absolutely stunning and thought-provoking, with believeable characters, situations, and relationships, especially the relationship between Ingrid, a scathing artist, and her daughter Astrid (Lohman). I highly reccomend this film to anyone who feels lost and alone, and would like to say that it's popularity falls sadly short of it's worth.

Movie Review: Terrific, Captivating Film
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is absolutely beautiful. I've never read the book, so I can't say how they compare. The acting is raw and perfect. Alison Lohman takes her character through drastic transitions ever so smoothly. The story moves very quickly, while still delivering continuity.
I've seen this movie just about 10 times already, and I'm still not sick of it. I rented it years ago out of curiosity, and was instantly engrossed by it. It is definitely one of my favorite movies of all time.

Movie Review: Very censored compared to the book!
Summary: 5 Stars

I know the filmmakers didn't want to make a very explicit movie because if they had kept everything from the book in the movie it would have been a really hard R. In the book there are graphic sexual encounters. But in the movie they are only insinuated which is very good for teen audiences. But onto the other stuff:

The movie is very true to the book and I am happy with that. The movie is different in some ways but not very differet. Top notch flick! Be prepared to be depressed!

Movie Review: Amazing. One Of The Best I've Seen
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is rarly funny, it doesn't need to be. It's serious, sad, dramatic, and full of action. Tons of things happen to this girl, who's not you're stero-type blonde, and the movie never has a moment when you think it's getting boring. The cover the DVD shows the four blondes and makes it look like a "chick flick" definitly not so. Not the fell-good movie of the year, but a great one that leaves you speechless.
