Movie Review: A True Classic

I searched a long time for this I had it on a video cassette but could never find it on dvd. This movie dates back to when we were still in the cold war with russia. The true essence of this movie is the dancing and how 2 men found common ground not only in their dancing but in there way of viewing each others desire. This movie has the best dancers ever! A dancer tries to leave the USSR after a plane crash but they want to force him to stay to dance in the country. His roomates want to leave with him after they find out the wife is pregnant. This movie does have remarkable dance scenes as one would imagine. That said, the story was very compelling and I found that even though the movie was well over two hours in length, I was absorbed into the action and it seemed to be over too soon! Here in Brazil we could not find this DVD anymore. We looked for it a lot. It was my young friend dream to watch WHITE NIGHTS and see his idol and "mentor" to dance and also as a movie star. Now my 16 years old Brazilian dancer is happy and doing his job of studying dance -a hard task for a boy, isn't it? - better than ever!!

Movie Review: Classic movie!!

There aren't many dancers who can compete with Gregory Hines (deceased) & Mikhail Baryshnikov, and to have them together in this movies was a rare treat. Besides being great dancers they are both incredible actors as well.I would recommend this movie to anyone who has a passion for dance even though there is much more than just dancing in the content.
