Movie Reviews of Where the Heart IsMovie Review: Pure entertainment and fun Summary: 5 Stars
I reccommend this movie to anyone who likes romance, likes to laugh and is tired of all of the "reality" trashy movies that Hollywood seems to think everyone wants to watch.
The characters are all a little off-center, but that is what makes this movie fun.
The best reason to purchase this movie is to see the full entire length of the movie. I have seen this movie several times on TV, almost everytime it is shown, the movie is edited so it will run in a two hour time slot including commercials. When they do that they usually cut Willy Jack's "travels". Due to that editing the first time I saw this movie certain things didn't make sense.
If you want to be entertained for a full two hours and see some romance and have a smile on you face when the movie is over, this is the movie to purchase.
Movie Review: Wonderfully acted movie Summary: 5 Stars
Didn't get a chance to see this film in the theatres, big mistake. I think Natalie Portman is now my favorite actress. I've seen her in The Professional and Heat but never really saw her shine until now. Wonderful supporting performances from Ashley Judd and Stockard Channing. I was really surprised how geniune the movie's characters seemed. From the reviews I expected bubbly and one-dimensional characters. These are real people who I have seen growing up in a small town with it's eccentricities and dysfunction. It shows how regular people can live happily even when put through so much grief and hardship. I could easily name women who I grew up with who are just like Ashley Judd's and Natalie's characters. Beautiful on the outside and inside but no self-esteem. Definitely more than just a chick flick.
Movie Review: Loved the Book, Love the Movie! Summary: 5 Stars
What can I say. It's rare but it happens once in a blue moon where I've loved both the book and the movie. Sure it doesn't have all of the characters and stories found in the book, but it does capture the magic Billie Letts created on paper. Also the casting of the film was very well done. Natalie Portman gave a truly wonderful performance as Novalee and Stockard Channing was magnificent as Sister. Where the Heart Is was also my introduction to James Frain who portrayed Forney Hall. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of James Frain in future. He did a wonderful job of not only having Novalee fall in love with him, but many female audience members (including myself) as well. Overall I highly recommend this movie because the characters, story and also the soundtrack will enchant you.
Movie Review: Ashley Judd and Natalie Portman, excellent! Summary: 5 Stars
I loved this movie! This movie tells the story or a teenage Novalle Nation (Natalie Portman) who is pregnant. When her boyfriend takes her to Wal-Mart to use the bathroom and get some kind of shoes, she comes back and he is gone! She's got no money, friends, or family. She has nowhere to go. Only thing she has is a tree. Her unlucky number is 5. One night, while living in the Wal-Mart, she has her baby. After gaining 15 minutes of fame for giving birth to the "walmart baby," she begins to put her life back together with the help of a kind, quirky strangers who become her surrogate family. Based on the #1 best-selling novel by Bille Letts, this movie is Brilliantly funny, deeply moving, beautifully acted. Buy it! You wont regret it!
Movie Review: Natalie and Ashley Prove Where The Heart Is! Summary: 5 Stars
One night, I didn't know we where going to watch this. Me and a bunch of the girl friends popped it in and with me never seeing it, I gave it a shot and I'm glad I did. I laughed, cry, and nearly broke into tears more than once. Natalie and Ashley make a great team in this movie and I'm glad I took the time to sit and watch it. After the movie that night, we had a night of fun talking, eating pizza, and playing games. It was time to go home at 10:00 p.m. and we left each other alone. On the way home, I called Lauren and asked if she still had soundtrack for "Where The Heart Is." sadly, she didn't. I finally bought the movie and added it to my DVD collection. Ashley and Natalie shine! You will love it!!!
