Movie Review: What a way to spend two hours!
Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, the movie is somewhat silly, ridiculously predictable and has no lingering "message," but it's about as fun as a movie can be. This is one of those movies that you have to watch a couple of times to discover all the things in it. You get the impression that everyone involved had a great time making it. Sit back and enjoy it.
Only one possible drawback. This movie was made for theatres, so make sure you get the widescreen version

The all-star cast, the ridiculous over-the-top costumes & sets, the hilarious "it was just like..." sequences, and the outlandish demises of all her husbands made this one of my favorite films growing up. I've been talking about it for years and even wrote the studio and now my long wait has been rewarded. Now if only they'd release "The Girl Most Likely To..." and "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! When you have a movie with Shirley Maclaine, Dean Martin, Gene Kelley, Paul Newman, Robert Mitchum, Dick Van Dyke and Bob Cummings - it has to be fun. The story is a fun-filled love'em, marry 'em, become rich and successful, and they die tale. The songs and the dancing, not to mention the gorgeous costumes are a real treat! I remember watching this movie when I was a kid. I probaly haven't seen it in over 20 years. I purchased it so that I could share it with my daughter who is 14 years old. It was just as good as I remember. Shirley MacLaine's costumes are fabulous. I am still deciding which one of her husbands I'd pick as my favorite. By the way, my daughter liked it too! I bought the DVD and laughed my head off again. The picture on the DVD is first rate, and looks great on the HD TV..
If you love a good comedy with some musical overtones, you will love this movie.
