Movie Reviews of What Lies BeneathMovie Review: Watch it at night w/ the light off! Summary: 5 Stars
Many friends who had seen this movie in the theater were nice enough to tell me a little about the movie, but not enough to spoil it for me and my wife. Even with their "warnings" that this was a "scarry movie", I still found myself jumping and anticipating many of the scenes. With the lights off this movie set just the right balance of special effects and suspense. Not so many special effects that this movie falls into the "gory" category (hardly), but like "The Exorcist", the movie used the special effects to enhance the suspense and deepen its intensity. Many of the scenes were HEAVILY enhanced, but I would have never know if I hadn't watched the Extra Features. Those scenes that were obviously special effects, were done just right. Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford, two big names in the movies demonstrate their acting abilities. This is one movie I'm glad to add to my DVD collection.
Movie Review: Indiana Jones Meets Catwoman... Summary: 5 Stars
Norman and Claire Spencer (Harrison Ford and Michelle Pheiffer) think that getting used to their college-bound daughter's absence will be the worst of their worries. Nope. Strange occurances begin almost immediately, causing Claire to grow increasingly terrified and suspicious. Are simple oddities (a door that opens itself, pictures jumping off tables, etc.) escalating into full-blown supernatural events, or is Claire just losing her mind? The tension builds slowly, while the mystery becomes more intriguing. Is there a ghost about? If so, what does this frightening spectre want? What is it trying to tell Claire? Norman believes that Claire is cracking up, until dark secrets are revealed that leave no doubt as to the mission of the relentless spirit. Ford and Pheiffer are great together, coming off as a married couple w/ lots of history. WHAT LIES BENEATH is suspenseful, eerie, and packed w/ surprises. Highly recommended...
Movie Review: Goose bump scary! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this movie a second time and it was still scary! It gave me goose bumps and raised the hair on the back of my neck. I covered my eyes most of the time. The whole audience was on edge and screaming. The acting was great and the music suspenseville. The music reminded me of "Jaws". The music was not over done like I've been reading about lately, it did not let you know when something was about to happen. That's why people get so scared, you don't know when something is going to happen and then the music takes off! The preview only gives a taste to what the movie is about, the end will surprise you. Harrison Ford was outstanding and was nice to see him in a change of character. Plus without his shirt on! The man still has it in his 50's. A must see movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I still can't take a bath because of this movie!
Movie Review: Stunning theatrical masterpiece! Summary: 5 Stars
Anyone who says that this is a poor film must have something severely wrong with them!! OK, so it has a familiar format to all the other suspense films that have ever been created...but that's the essence of movie theatre and indeed the very nature of 'genre'. And still despite being in many ways very familiar, it's unforeseeable twist at the end makes this a class above the rest.Ford's performance is stunning as he achieves feasibility both as the doting husband and the crazed killer, and despite one piece of rather unconvincing acting as she confronts who she believes to be a murderer, Michelle Phiefer also delivers an intelligent performance as his wife. With scares a plenty and a sophisticated slant on the guidelines of this particular genre, "What Lies Beneath" is definitely one for the collection of any true movie lover!!
Movie Review: Excellent Thriller Summary: 5 Stars
I don't exactly put this movie into the Horror category, it's not gory, it's not campy, and it's not a gore fest. This is a great psychological supernatural thriller. The kind of movie that makes you jump in your seat, it keeps you in suspense and your wondering what's gonna happen next. the only problem i found with the movie is that after all the movies Harrison Ford has been in, even with all the character development, it was really difficult to see him as an evil , bad character. I really liked this movie and it sits on my DVD shelf. The DTS sound kicks so much butt and sounds clear and you just have to crank up the movie and enjoy. The acting was top notch in this movie everyone did a great job and even after seeing it many, many times it's still an enjoyable movie. I think one day it'll end up in that classi movie list somewhere.
