Movie Reviews of What Dreams May Come

Movie Review: Robin William at His Best
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie seems to be very under-rated considering that it is one of Robin Williams' best performance.

An outstanding cast comes together in this movie. Each character is interesting and in my opinion the acting was should have been recognized at the Academy Awards.

What Dreams May Come did take the Academy Award (1998) for Visual Effects.
You will see why in the first half hour of the movie and it only gets better.

Music: The late great Michal Kamen (April 15, 1948 - November 18, 2003)
did his usual fantastic job. His music is a perfect compliment to the acting and the visuals.

Concept: A very nice concept of what happens after life. It really does
end up showing us a bit of heaven.

This is a movie that will take you from sad to joy, so be prepared.

5-Stars

Movie Review: Stunning Film. Robin William's Best Work
Summary: 5 Stars

Williams really bring all of his talents to the table in this absolutely gorgeous film. The effects are absolutely brilliant, and the scenery is stunning, but the underlying story is so passionate and amazing, one really can't miss this film.

It may be rather slow at times, and while it might have served better "movie-wise" for something to be more fast paced, they worked instead at the feeling of hopelessness as Chris (Robin Williams) searches for his soulmate and wife in purgatory after she killed herself, due to the death of Chris, her husband, and her children.

Feelings against these very mature themes might deter one away from the movie, but if swallowed, this movie can be very heartening to many people.

Definitely recommend seeing this movie. It is not to be missed.

Movie Review: This is it kids....the real thing
Summary: 5 Stars

This is not a movie...it is a piece of artwork and a book which have come to life. If you're seeking spiritual answers to the big questions, this film does an amazing job of presenting very matter of factly Heaven and Hell. This film explains answers to the mysteries of life boldly and does an amazing job of telling it like it is....What Dreams May Come presents simple truth.

Buy 10 and send them to your friends. This movie reaches out and touches on some tough issues...and it does so with grace. For anyone, this movie should be a life changing experience. I dedicate this review to Aaron...you are my inspiration and my love unknown. Chances are all we can take in this crazy world.

Movie Review: A difficult subject, handled with grace
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I love this film. For me, it is one of the few films I've seen that improves on its literary source (which I also enjoyed) -- the story is considerably tighter, the dramatic tension higher. Williams, Gooding, and Sciorra are uniformly excellent; in fact, this is probably our favorite Robin Williams performance, and that's saying something. Very, very good special effects for the time.

Death, and life after death, are tough subjects, and most people shy away from them, outside the horror or tragedy genres. This film (and its source novel) tackles contemporary afterlife research head on, and provide a moving, emotionally charged experience for those who are open to it.

Movie Review: No matter your beliefs, this movie will make you think
Summary: 5 Stars

What Dreams May Come (a line from the famous 'To be or not to be' speech from Hamlet) is ranked among my all time favorite movies. I personally believe in a life after death, and my own views vary from those presented in the movie a bit, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this movie thoroughly. What makes this one of my favorite movies is perhaps the attention to detail that they put into feelings and human emotions, particularly the concepts of regret and what it means to have true love. Ever since I lost my own true love, this movie makes me cry, but I love it all the same. It also helps to remind me that I need to always strive to be a better father.
