Movie Reviews of What Dreams May ComeMovie Review: Fantastic! Robin Williams and Annabella were Great! Summary: 5 Stars
I can't believe what an excellent "multi-layered" actor Robin Williams has become. I'm not thinking of his leading role in Popeye, but his most recent accomplishments in: One Hour Photo, Jakob the Liar, and now this --alongside Annabella Sciorra and Cuba Gooding, Jr. I hope Robin continues to perform in multi-layered pscyhological roles that honor the Creator God. Annabella was fantastic in this also...
Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra star in this visually stunning metaphysical tale of life after death.
Neurologist Chris and artist Annie had the perfect life until they lost their children in an auto accident; they're just starting to recover when Chris meets an untimely death himself. He's met by a messenger named Albert (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and taken to his own personal afterlife--a freshly drawn world reminiscent of Annie's own artwork, still dripping and wet with paint. Meanwhile a depressed Annie takes her own life, compelling Chris to traverse heaven and hell to save Annie from an eternity of despair.
The best sequence in this just may be how the evil entities just give up after they realize that Chrisy (Robin Williams) is earnestly trying to save another out of pure love.
Movie Review: Beautifully Crafted; Superbly executed Summary: 5 Stars
The film is one of the few that I enjoy immensely under repeated viewings. In very basic terms, this is a romance, a love, persisting through time and space. Based on a 1978 Matheson book, it takes some liberties with the book's story line, but in the end it produces a great story. Whilst the FX is very heavy in the movie, it is a necessary addendum to the story. In fact, wonderfully so. As is noted in the commentary, both Williams and Sciorra have worked together before, and it shows.
The chemistry they have, Robin Williams' intensity, especially with the script comment "It's not about understanding, its about NOT GIVING UP"; all in all this film is a rare work that illustrates the power of persistance, and the power of a love renowned for beauty.
The key extra is the commentary; the director provides some great insights into the film. And the feature which is short, covers some good points. I personally love the commentary comment that says "I spent some time in Australia for my sins". Tasmania excepted :-).
All kidding aside, this is a masterwork, for this life and the next, wether you believe it or not, once you see the film, you may just see once the film takes you to the Gateway of believing.
Movie Review: It is A Very Good Movie Summary: 5 Stars
Somebody has cross the path again. Complaining about a movie that is meant for entertainment. Mr. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments" 1956 movie, use to entertain me until I grew up and started to notice how horrible the acting was with the exception of Yul Brynner.
"What Dreams May Come" was an enchanting movie, nothing more! This is only a movie and if it enlightens someone than more power to it. Stop being judgmental by quoting the so call almighty word. This movie was not design to change your beliefs nor was it trying to change your beliefs. If this movie offends you it may not have anything to do with your religious beliefs it might be do to your hate towards life.
Sure, voice your opinion but think it over before you start telling other how to live their life. I did notice that 2 out of 33 seem to agree with you. I didn't add my number to make it 2 out of 34 because there is no need to.
Enjoy the film or just let it go. Please stop judging others and warning them about Hell. Only you are facing that hell and that is here on Earth.

Movie Review: Magnificent and PROFOUND! Summary: 5 Stars
Magnificently lush and breathtakingly beautiful, this movie is my #1 absolute favorite movie of all time, because of the profound depth of the story. No mere love story in the conventional sense, it delves into the deepest of human despair, with a stunning performance by Annabella Sciorra, and just when you think you have shed more tears during this movie than all the other movies you've ever seen in your entire life put together, it reaches deep inside your psyche and pulls out the boldest, most heartwrenching understanding you've ever had about the POWER OF LOVE.
To be willing to go to the depths of 'hell' itself for your love, is the profound concept illustrated in What Dreams May Come. In addition, the concepts of creating our own reality, soul mates, and the nature of 'heaven' and 'hell' are explored in exquisite depth.
I can't say enough about the quality of this movie. No other movie (that I've ever seen anyway) has ever come close to its caliber. Oddly enough, this is one of those rare instances in which the movie was actually better than the book.
SEE IT! Have a box of tissues handy. But you will feel enriched afterwards.
Movie Review: A love so powerful that it transcends the laws of Heaven and hell... Summary: 5 Stars
...that's the simplest that I can describe this film, which has become very dear to me. It's a story about two people who find each other while on vacation and discover they are soulmates. They eventually marry and have children, and eventually lose those children to a tragic accident. Not exactly a spoiler here, as we fast-forward into the future about 10-13 years when the children are in junior high and high school. But when Chris, magnificently portrayed by Robin Williams, is killed in a tragic accident himself four years after that devastating accident, it leaves a shattered Annie (Annabella Sciorra) behind, all alone and fragile. In a nutshell, she attempts to find solace in suicide, but this act of desperation and despair leaves her forever inaccessible to her family and Heaven, or so one would think... And I'll leave it at that.
Don't look for religious overtones here, as some of the themes depicted may not coincide with your own views. Regardless, it is still a beautiful story; it was when Matheson wrote it, and it was given a new vibrancy with the motion picture. I am anxiously awaiting the Blu-ray version, whenever that may come...
