Movie Reviews of What Darwin Never KnewMovie Review: Is evolution incompatible with Genesis? Summary: 5 Stars
For Heaven's sake C. Dudley "John 14:6" . . . evolution doesn't say that there wasn't a Creator, it is merely an effort to clearly understand the techniques that were involved in the process of Creation. Among the 'human creators' who most enrich our lives are composers, artists, film makers, etc., and possibly the greatest way to honor and appreciate these 'human creators' is to study their works in an effort to understand their unique creative processes and techniques. Thus, exploring and fine tuning the Theory of Evolution is probably the greatest way to honor the Creator.
Which version of Creation do you ascribe to? "Genesis 1" or "Genesis 2"? These are two rather different accounts, and "Genesis 1" is entirely compatible with the Theory of Evolution! Vegetation, plants, and trees are created on the Third Day ("Genesis 1:12"). Sea creatures and birds are created on the Fifth Day ("Genesis 1:20-21"). Land animals are created on the Sixth Day ("Genesis 1:24-25"). After the creation of land animals, man is finally created (male and female, in the image of God), and given dominion over all the other creatures.
"Genesis 2" does not enumerate the six different days of Creation, as does "Genesis 1." Although "Genesis 1" says that vegetation was created on the Third Day and man was created on the Sixth Day (after all the other creatures had already been created), "Genesis 2:5-7" has Adam being created BEFORE any vegetation or any other creatures. In fact "Genesis 2:18-19" says that the animals were created later in an effort to find a suitable helper for Adam.
"Genesis 1" seems to me to be the carefully considered effort of the best minds of an ancient culture trying to account the most likely scenario for Creation, very much akin to our modern-day evolutionary biologists. "Genesis 2" is more like stories that an ancient people might tell around a campfire, full of exciting details like magical fruit and a walking, talking snake. Which of these two contradicting accounts do you believe is the true story of Creation, C.Dudley?
