Movie Reviews of Westworld

Movie Review: AI is great, unless...
Summary: 5 Stars

The premise behind Westworld is simple and even more relevant than it was back in 1973: what would happen if humans engineered human-like robots and something went wrong? Back then, it was simply a matter of speculation; now, just over a short thirty years later, humans have "advanced" scientifically more than anticipated, and the likelihood of such a scenario occuring is much greater. Something which I find quite unsettling. I was very interested to see how this movie would resolve itself, and to be quite honest, I think the outcome was a little too optimistic. Regardless, I really loved this movie.

Movie Review: Absolute, underated classic!
Summary: 5 Stars

It must be the inspiration for films such as Robocop, Total Recall etc. And I know the director Michael Crichton went on to direct Jurassic Park.

It's a favourite, if not one of the greatest ever sci-fi's. Yul Brynner at his greatest. A robot in an adult fantasy adventure park, out of control, running amok, chasing a guest through West World, Roman World, Medievil World. Has his face partially ripped off, to expose a totally believable 1970's special effects cyborg face. Brynners performance is brilliant to the end, after rising for a final time after having acid thrown in his face!

Movie Review: Killer cowboy robots!
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a very suspenseful movie. Basically, this film is about a futuristic amusement park called Westworld where people can enjoy living in the wildwest. Westworld is inhabited by android robots where visitors can have a shoot-out with them, have a talk with them, and even have sex with them. But when the androids start to malfunction, all hell breaks loose as the unstopable androids start to kill their human guests. Highly suspenseful, good acting and directed, and good special effects. Highly recommended!

Movie Review: Back When SciFi Didn't Mean B Movie Actors
Summary: 5 Stars

Both West World and its sequel, Future World, are worth watching. I like most of what Michael Crichton does. Both West World and the sequel have multi-generational appeal. Unlike most SciFi movies today, which rely on special effects to keep your interest, this movie actually has a plot and first rate acting. It is to more recent SciFi movies as the original Time Machine movie from the late 50s was to later ill-fated attempts at depicting the same story.

Movie Review: great sci-fi
Summary: 5 Stars

back in 1973, hi tech sci fi , was beginning to show up on the screen on a regular basis, although a few weak moments are in the film, this sci0-fi gem is a must for collectors.
i would imagine, a up dated version would be great and a re make would generate a new fan base, perhaps, tom berringer
as the cowboy-bad guy...a.k.a. yul brynners role...
