Movie Reviews of Welcome to the Dollhouse

Movie Review: The Greatest Film You'll Never Want To See Again
Summary: 5 Stars

This was a terrific movie, a gloves-off look at kids in junior high and high school, and it was brutally captivating. Everyone who has ever been a kid has lived the Dawn Wiener experience at one time or another -- some kids do it every day -- and all of us can recognize the well-portrayed misery from those times. This was just a great film, and I really don't think I can bring myself to ever watch it again.

Movie Review: So True it Hurts
Summary: 5 Stars

Dawn, the anti-Barbie and anti-hero, lives in a hysterical, horrible world most of us recognize only too well. This movie will hit you right in the gut and yet you will find yourself laughing until you cry the whole time you are down. (We can laugh now because we made it through jr. high). By the end, you'll find yourself shouting at the tv to tell Dawn to hang in there, she'll make it too.

Movie Review: ~great! ~
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie was awsome my two favorite parts are when Dawn`s in the bathroom than she sees that girl Lolita, then she pretends she`s washing her hands, but the bully new, the bully makes her use the bathroom. my other favorite part is the first part in the cafeteria, that`s all I`m going to say, I don`t want to spoil it for you.

Movie Review: Awesome debut for several parties involved
Summary: 5 Stars

This film is a great directorial debut for Todd Solondz, as well as for Heather Matarazzo (Dawn Wiener) and Eric Mabius (Steve Rodgers.) "Welcome to the Dollhouse" is more of a bleak rather than a black comedy, and presents a believable (and depressing) view of suburbia, junior high school and adolescence in general.

Movie Review: 3.5 stars out of 4
Summary: 5 Stars

The Bottom Line:

An incisive look at the pain of adoloscence that pulls no punches and does not even think about tacking on a happy ending, Welcome to the Dollhouse is an excellent drama (which is often very funny) that should be required viewing for anyone who had a hellish middle school experience.
