Movie Reviews of War DanceMovie Review: UNBELIEVABLY MOVING! Great story with Happy ending!!! A++ Summary: 5 Stars
There is no way to watch this Documentary without coming away from it a changed person!
The cinematography, the heart wrenching true stories of these former child soldiers journey of healing via traditional Uganda dancing and music is truly so inspirational.
Every living person (child included!) would enjoy this documentary eventhough parts are difficult to wrap your mind around - in the end you will feel their victory and come away feeling inspired!! :)
BRAVO!!!
War Dance Summary: 5 Stars
When I first watched this documentary I knew very little about the conflict in Uganda but I have always enjoyed documentaries and I thought I might learn something by watching this DVD. The conflict though is really only the background in this story of triumph. The children who feature have experienced unspeakable conditions in their lives but rise above these conditions as they practise and compete in a national dance competition. The finale is truly inspiring and I am delighted to have added this DVD to my collection.
Movie Review: Another overlooked Sundance film Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this film at the Sundance film festival in 2007 and was completely blown away by the originality of weaving together documentary, dance, music, war, and horrific pain suffered by lovely children. I don't believe it gained any wide popularity which is unfortunate because while it is a heart-wrenching story, there is so much joy and hope at the end of the movie, you start to believe anything is possible...beautiful cinematography (may inspire my own journey to Uganda), amazing music, and just an overall lovely film.
Movie Review: incredible film Summary: 5 Stars
War/Dance is an incredible film--one of the most moving, engaging and beautifully produced/directed documentaries I have ever seen. It is a powerful window into children's lives in the war zone of Norther Uganda today and a true testament to the resiliency of the human spirit. The movie is at once devastating and uplifting, as it captures the hope and spirit of children who have been through unspeakable suffering and yet have managed to overcome with grace and beauty. This is a movie that should not be missed.
Movie Review: War/Dance Summary: 5 Stars
War Dance National Geographic cinematographers accompanied these excellent doc filmmakers to the dangerous region of Uganda to film these heroic children who were about to compete, against all odds, in the national music competition. Its a real life Rocky story set in Uganda. You can't help but be on the edge of your chair throughout the film. The ultimate message is that music has great healing powers for us all.
