Movie Reviews of WWF: Survivor Series 2000Movie Review: merely average Summary: 3 Stars
Survivor Series is one of the Big 5 WWF Pay Per View Events (Wrestlemania, Summerslam, King of the Ring, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series). Any PPV is supposed to be special and of a higher quality than the average RAW or Smackdown program, but the Big 5 are of a higher profile than the rest. The first Survivor Series was held in 1987 and it set the tradition of what Survivor Series is. A traditional Survivor Series match is a 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 elimination tag team match where there is no winner until every man from one team is eliminated. Depending on who gets eliminated, this can set up a 5 on 1 match, or any other combination of wrestlers. When Survivor Series debuted, that type of elimination match was the norm for the PPV. As the years have gone by, Survivor Series has featured fewer and fewer traditional elimination matches. With all of the anticipation that comes before one of the bigger PPV events, the 2000 Survivor Series was somewhat under-whelming. There were a couple of traditional Survivor Series matches. One of them, the match between the Radicalz (Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guererro) vs Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, K-Kwik, and Chyna was one of the better matches of the night. Most of the matches were not very exciting (Bob Holly vs William Regal for the European Championship as an example) and served only to advance the storylines. Advancing the storylines is a good thing, but it is of greater importance to put on good matches. Otherwise, the audience/viewer will not care or pay money to watch the events. The championship match between Kurt Angle and The Undertaker was decent, much on the strength of Kurt Angle to elevate any superstar he is in the ring with. However, the match ended in another swerve, which is becoming a Survivor Series tradition. The swerve tradition seems to date back to 1997 with the Bret Hart/ Shawn Michaels match in Montreal. An occasional swerve isn't a bad thing as it can heighten interest in the story being told. The problem is that the WWF has used it so much that we come to expect a swerve and the importance of the match, even the championship match, is lessened. The Main Event was Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Triple H, and this was more of a brawl than a wrestling match. As such, it wasn't a bad match until the end. The ending to this one was more absurd than dramatic. We are expected to believe that one wrestler is in life threatening danger, but we know that he will be back...either the next week or in a month or two. Knowing that so much is staged makes some events absurd. Overall, this was only an average Pay Per View. Nothing special.
Movie Review: Pretty disaspointing Summary: 3 Stars
This was a pretty crappy PPV for the year 2000 (It may have been the worst for WWE but if this was a WCW PPV and they had one like this every month they would still be in business). I will run down the matches and give them grade out of 5 now.
T&A and Trish vs Steve Blackman, Crash Holly, and Molly Holly 2/5
This was pretty crappy because all of them are crappy wrestlers.
Trish wasn't good back then, Test was only about a year in a half into his career and was still pretty green in my opinion (I only remember one good match Test had up until then was him vs Shane O mac at Summerslam 1999...see my review after this.),
Alberts just crappy, Steve can't wrestle, Crash wasn't a Kurt Angle, and Molly I just don't like her. Molly pins Trish after a sunset flip.
Radicalz vs Chyna, Road dog, Billy Gun, k-Kwick 3.5/5
Great match that was fast paced and never got tiring. Eddy and Benoit make this match awesome.
Kane vs Y2J 4.5/5
This was an awesome match that had back and forth action.
Kane suprisingly got owned 65% of the match with high risk manuevers by Chris Jericho. Kane wins after a chokeslam.
William Regal vs Hardcore Holly for the Euro Title 1/5
Pretty short match with Regal hitting Holly's injured arm and Holly then hitting Regal with the belt for a DQ. Holly then beats the crap out of Regal.
Rikishi vs Rock 4.5/5
Pretty good for a match with Rikishi in it. Rocky sells his ribs like their is no tommorow in this one. rocky eventually pulls off the peeps elbow for the win. Rikishi gets pissed and Banzai's the Rock 4 times after the match.
Kurt Angle vs Undertaker 4/5
I thought this was a great match. I really enjoyed the switch betwwen Kurt and Erik. Erik gets killed most of the match and Kurt switches places with him at the end and rolls up UT for the win.
RTC and E&c vs Tha Hardyz & the Dudleyz 4.5/10
Awesome match with the jeff Hardy being the sole survivor. After the match tables were introduced.
Stone Cold vs HHH 5/5
Aewsome brawl with alot of weapons such as a piece of Scaffolding and Beer cans. The Radicalz jump Stone Cold as HHH tries to run over Steve with his car like last year but steve lifts the car up with a forklift and drops HHH!
Movie Review: Four matches saved this PPV from being a baddy.... Summary: 3 Stars
This wasn't the best Survivor series I can tell you that. But this did have a good story drivin match........On this PPV I mean... Undertaker vs Kurt Angle Rock vs Rikishi Kane vs Jerico Austin vs HHH Saved this PPV from going to down hill.....The matches goes like this...Here are my reviews.. 6-person intergender tag team match T&A and Trish Stratus vs. Steve Blackman, Crash Holly and Molly Holly Good opener with the crowd getting into this match, the women kind of ruined this match. Survivor Series elimination match Radicalz vs. Billy Gunn, Chyna, Road Dogg and K-Kwik Great match!....Lota moves n action style by K-kwik Chris Jericho vs. Kane Boring..nothin enteresting....I was hoping for something shocking by kane but it never happend......Bad match... WWE European title match William Regal vs. Hardcore Holly uh.....Next one please Rock vs. Rikishi Short but sweet....A brutal way to end the match... WWE Women's title match Lita vs. Ivory good match....Lita did all the work... WWE Championship match Kurt Angle vs. Undertaker I wanted taker to win sooo badly! But he didn't....sigh.. Survivor Series match Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian and Right To Censor No Disqualification match Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Triple H This wasn't the best AUSTIN/HHH match...If you want to look for a classic/brutal/standalone Austin/HHH match then watch NOWAYOUT! Now that one was a true "classic". Possibly one of the best matches ever made....With a wierd ending...This one wasn't weird....It was just...CRAZY! Wasn't that good..... 6-person intergender tag team match T&A and Trish Stratus vs. Steve Blackman, Crash Holly and Molly Holly Good opening match to start off SS I don't review the matches in order..... This was an awesome/average PPV But if you really want to see Austin and Triple H tear each other apart go watch No Way Out.....That was the best HHH/AUSTIN match ever..... I give this event a 3.5 out of 5....average..... Later....
Movie Review: Very OK WWF Pay Per View Summary: 3 Stars
The 2000 Survivor Series was week in resraspect compared to 2001 & 2002. Instead of having any major story plots going, they opted for the usual Survivor Series mode, having athlete wrestle in elimination matches, which is ok too.The beginning match is between Test, Albert, & Trish Stratus against Crash Holly, Steve Blackman, & Molly Holly. Ok first pay per view match for Molly, who scores her first victory. The 2nd match is a Survivor Series elimination match. Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Perry Saturn, & Dean Malenk vs. Billy Gunn, Chyna, Road Dogg, & K-Kwik. Decent match with a bad ending. Needed more Chyna & K-Kwik. Kane Vs. Chris Jericho is one of the highlights of the night. The 2 men put on a good match, & Kane even gets his cheers, even though he was a heel at the time. Hardcore Holly Vs. William Regal for the European Championship is a very forgetable match. The Rock Vs. Rikishi is another good match. The Rock scores a victory but Rikishi send Rocky to the hospital with his huge prosteriar. The Womans Championship match between champ Ivory, & Lita. Lita looks like she is stoned for the whole match and ends up with a bloody face. The WWE Championship match is pretty good. The Undertaker put a hell of a beating on Kurt Angle, but Angle victors in the end with one of the most bizarre cheats in history. Another highlight is the elimination match between The Dudleyz & the Hardys vs. Edge & Christian, & The Goodfather & Bull Buchanan. Great highflying moves from the Hardys & E & C. The main event pits Stone Cold Steve Austin against Triple H. Match kind of drags on & the ending is just so much bull, its almost funny. Overall I rate this DVD a 3. Decent Raw & Smackdown matches, but only a couple real pay per view matches. DVD extras include a Sunday Night Heat match between Val Venis & Jeff Hardy. Also has some interviews with Kurt Angle & Triple H.
Movie Review: Survival of the Fittest! Summary: 3 Stars
This was the PPV where Rock collided against Rikishi, Undertaker battled Kurt Angle, and Stone Cold Steve Austin destroying Triple H. This wasn't the greatest Survivor Series, but it was much better than Survivor Series 99'. Some of the matches where dull while some where good, my reviews down below.6-person intergender tag team match T&A and Trish Stratus vs. Steve Blackman, Crash Holly and Molly Holly Good opener with the crowd getting into this match, the women kind of ruined this match. Survivor Series elimination match Radicalz vs. Billy Gunn, Chyna, Road Dogg and K-Kwik Fast paced action, but got slow towards the end. Chris Jericho vs. Kane Okay match, but a little bit boring. Their match at Armageddon was better. WWE European title match William Regal vs. Hardcore Holly Short match, with a terrible ending. Rock vs. Rikishi Great match with a lot of action, pretty short though. WWE Women's title match Lita vs. Ivory Pretty good, but the ending was a DUD. WWE Championship match Kurt Angle vs. Undertaker Long and slow. This was a good match, but Kurt Angle slowed it down too much. Shocking ending though. Survivor Series elimination match Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian and Right To Censor Better than the first elimination match at the beginning of the night with a lot more action and tables! No Disqualification match Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Triple H I was expecting this match to be real quick and with Austin beating the hell out of HHH, but instead this match turned out to be kind of slow. These two have had better matches and this wasn't it. The ending is pretty crazy. So there you have it, this was an okay Survivor Series with a couple of good matches and some dull matches. Check out Survivor Series 2001.
