Movie Reviews of WWF: Survivor Series 2000Movie Review: The True Return of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin Summary: 3 Stars
At this point in time, WWF fans were getting pumped to see 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin get revenge for being put out of action at the 1999 SURVIVOR SERIES. Austin had finally "returned" in September, battled with Rikishi in October, and was coming for his true culprit - Triple H!
That little story is probably why most fans checked out the 2000 edition of the SURVIVOR SERIES. It's just a shame that HHH, Austin, and most of the wrestlers did a decent job on this PPV...and it still might not be enough.
1) T&A and Trish Stratus v.
Molly Holly, Crash Holly, & Steve Blackman (Hardcore champion)
---This opener was more about getting a crowd pumped than about telling an in-ring story. The match rarely slowed down, both teams used some neat double-team maneuvers, and the ladies did their Catfight antics all for Florida's viewing pleasure. This one-fall contest isn't anything to go out of your way to see, but if you get the PPV, it's a neat 5-minute diversion.
"6.0 / 10"
2) Survivor Series Match
Road Dogg, K-Kwik, Chyna, & Billy Gunn
v. The Radicalz
---The first of two Elimination Matches for the evening reminded me a lot of the Four Horsemen. Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, & Eddie Guerrero played the numbers often and effectively to keep their opponents down. The constant gang-ups and cheating might infuriate some viewers, but everyone else might have a good time with this one. Unfortunately, the match really suffered from a couple quick eliminations. K-Kwik (Ron Killings from TNA, now R-Truth in WWE) was easily the most exciting aspect of the match with his Cirque de Soleil performances, and got pinned with maybe two moves. Chyna & Eddie continued their funny couple-gone-bad routine, but "Latino Heat" looked more foolish than skilled. And it was nice to see The New Age Outlaws team up after being apart for so long. To make a long story short, this match is worth your time, but not nearly as great as it could've been.
"6.5 / 10"
3) Chris Jericho v. Kane
---Wow...this was pretty bad. Never mind that the whole thing started over Y2J accidentally spilling a cup of coffee onto Kane a few weeks prior. Try not to groan as Jericho desperately tried to sell this grudge match as "being about something more than coffee." Well, storylines may age, but good wrestling is forever...sorry folks, but this is far from good. Kane has a very loyal fan base, but the year 2000 was a miserable year for him. His PPV showcases were often bad, as evidenced here. Jericho is a future Hall of Famer deserving of his podium moment, but all of his hard work went to waste. Their Last Man Standing rematch will be released on Kane's upcoming WWE DVD. Maybe give that one a look, first.
"4.5 / 10"
4) European Championship
William Regal (champion) v. Hardcore Holly
---What we have here is a technician whose skills were ahead of their time, and a tough wrestler whose physicals skills are often undone by his lack of in-ring psychology. After Regal cut a very funny promo (he made fun of Florida's 2000 Election delays), Holly interrupted him to begin their scheduled contest. As I said before, Regal can be a great wrestler, but his old-school European style just wasn't exciting the crowd. Shame on them. Holly has always had athletic ability, but his non-Hardcore matches are often the most generic matches imaginable. Shame on Holly.
"5.5 / 10"
5) Rikishi v. The Rock
---Be warned: If you think "The People's Champ" is an overrated phenomenon, you better just skip this one. I like to joke that Rock in 2000 was so invincible, that he might've just worn a bright red "S" on his chest. Unfortunately, the match consisted of Rikishi mercilessly beating an injured Rock, with Rock making an occasional comeback. If you enjoy underdog matches or injury angles, then this will be a good one. But if you want the explosive match these two might've been capable of, then I'm sorry to say that this wasn't it.
"6.0 / 10"
6) Women's Championship
Ivory (champion) v. Lita
---Now pay attention, because this match is more important than you realize. I've loved the Divas in recent years, but the Attitude Era often used them for eye-candy, and most of the ladies back then couldn't perform. And then, the skilled Ivory and fast-rising Lita squared off in this solid match that the crowd got into. Rather than resort to pulling hair or tearing each other's clothes, Ivory & Lita improved the image of women in the WWF on this very night. Hell, Lita even took a nasty cut above her eye! Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a great match. It can get a tad sloppy and soft (women need to work on their kicks & punches). Not as good as I might've made it sound, but still a very significant match in the Women's division's history.
"6.5 / 10"
7) WWF Championship
Kurt Angle (champion) v. The Undertaker
---Longtime WWE fans know that Taker & Angle are responsible for some terrific matches in SMACKDOWN history, but I remember not expecting this one to be any good. Their last PPV encounter was an enjoyable slugfest that ultimately made Angle look weak. But this time, Angle & Taker got it just right. If you liked any of their other technical showcases, then you're in for a real treat. Kurt Angle walked a very tight line between being an Olympic competitor and a total dweeb; I'm sure it's hard to look great and cowardly at the same time. And nay-sayers who think Taker's "biker gimmick" was terrible need to understand that this allowed him to open up his character, and compete in more mat-based performances like this. If this brief history lesson gets you excited, then the action won't disappoint you. And after watching these two rivals go at it for about 15 minutes, there's a clever twist ending that still holds up today. An excellent match between an underrated pairing of wrestlers.
"8.5 / 10"
8) Survivor Series Match
Edge & Christian / Bull Buchanan & The Goodfather (Tag Team champions)
v. The Hardy Boyz & The Dudley Boyz
---Compared to the previous Elimination Match, this one might be the better of the two. It's a little longer, and the finishes were more sensible. Even though E&C, Dudleyz, & Hardyz had competed for over a year together, they still managed to put on a good show. And Right To Censor, in my opinion, was an underrated faction. RTC's characters were devilishly annoying, but their in-ring skills were solid for their time. All in all, this match was par for the course - enjoyable, but nothing special.
"6.5 / 10"
9) No Disqualifications
Triple H v. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin
---Thank God Mick Foley made this No-DQ earlier in the evening. It would've made no sense to see two rivals involved with vehicular assault compete in a standard one-fall contest. These two often had good matches together, and this was one of them. However, if you're hoping this will top their NO MERCY '99 or NO WAY OUT 2001 performances, then don't get too excited. The physiques, characters, & movesets between HHH & Austin complement each other very well. There are two main reasons I prefer their other PPV matches over this one. For starters, this one slowed down a bit more than I really cared for. Back in 2000, HHH sometimes was too calculating and dominating for his own good. His "Cerebral Assassin" moniker wasn't a good thing, at first. But the other reason I'd rather watch their other matches is because of how having no rules plays out. I really hate seeing brawls up the aisle and into the crowd, and I hate being able to call reverals & weapon counters seconds before they happen. For example, there's a spot where HHH attempts a Pedigree at ringside, and any viewer will be able to call that Austin is about to backdrop HHH through a table to counter it. Other than a shocking finish, there are few surprises in this match. It's a good showing from two of the most famous in pro wrestling history. But it's not as great as it looks on paper.
"7.0 / 10"
OVERALL
---There's nothing really wrong with SURVIVOR SERIES 2000, other than very little is special about. The traditional Elimination Matches from these PPVs are usually fun to watch, but the two on this card aren't anything special, especially because E&C/Dudleyz/Hardyz have had much better matches elsewhere. Austin & HHH delivered a good main event worthy of their year-long buildup, but it wasn't their best showing. Lita & Ivory may have had an important contest in WWE history, but then so is Ultimate Warrior winning the IC Title in 15 seconds...Do you really want to pay money to see it if it's more interesting than great? Undertaker & Kurt Angle pulled off one of the best matches in their rivalry's history, and in SURVIVOR SERIES history.
You might still be curious enough to check this one out, but here's a suggestion: I wouldn't be surprised if the WWE releases a SURVIVOR SERIES anthology in the near-future. I suggest you either get this PPV at a cheap price, or try to catch some of these matches on other websites or DVDs.
Movie Review: Survivor series 2000 is a 3 star ppv Summary: 3 Stars
80-76%-perfect
75-71%-awsome
70-66%-good
65-61%-poor
60-56%-awful
1. Molly Holly and crash and steve blackman vs. TandA and trish- This was an okay way to kick off the show. This was only given 5 mintues and i felt like they put this here for a filler. It was average just some good action but nothing u would want to watch more than once. Winners Molly Holly and crash and steve blackman. Match Rating 5.5/10.
2. The Radicals vs. Chyna and billy gun and road dog and K-quick in an elmination match- this was alot better than the first match. All of these people have talent that were in this ring. i have always liked the surivor series elmination matches. This was just some soild wrestling and given the time it needed but nothing special. Winners the radicals. Match Rating 7/10.
3. Kane vs. Y2J- This was the first really good match of the night. This kind of had a dumb storyline to it but it brought more intensity to the match. This was the first big match of there long fued and it was preatty good. More big man little man stuff but this was one of kanes better matches. Just some good back and forth action. A good match to watch. Winner Kane. Match Rating 7.5/10.
4. William Regal vs. Hardcore Holly for the europen title- This was not a good match at all. This did not get the crowd into it at all and this also seemed more like a filler to cool the crowd down after the first match. this had a horriable ending withg a dq and you wont want to watch this match more than one time. Winner and stiil europen champ william regal. Match Rating 2.5/10.
5. The Rock vs. Rikishi- This was a good match. i usually dont care for most of rikishis matches but this one seemed to be good. This was right when rikishi was in the title secene which made this match better because of the fued that was going on. Some goo sellin gby the rock and everyone was behind him. A well put together match by the wwe and some near falls as well. Winner The Rock. Match Rating 8/10.
6. Lita vs. Ivory for the womens title- This was another bad match. It was alright for a womens match but i just could not get into it at all. The corwd was out of this one and it was to much one sided offense. I think you will wnat to skip this match. Winner and still womens champ Ivory. Match Rating 3/10.
7. Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle for the wwe title- This was a really good title match. If i had to say one problem with this match is that it was worked to much on takers leg. Besides that this was an awsome match. It started out great with angle tricking taker and hiting him with the chair. Lots of near falls and outside interference. I think this was a really good first title defense for kurt. The ending is awsome and really unpredictable. it is tricky and you are going to wantto watch this match. Good match overall. Winner and still wwe champ Kurt Angle. Match Rating 8.5/10.
8. The dudleys and hardys vs. Right to censor and edge and christian in an elemination match- This was better than the first elemination match. This was a good way to cool the crowd down but it didnt at the same time because it was a good match. An average match but very entertaing and the eleminations were set up right. A nice comeback at the end by Jeff hardy. Also some great aftermath with the dudleys putting right toi censor through tables. Winners the dudleys and hardys. Match Rating 7.5/10.
9. Stone Cold vs. HHH no DQ- This was an awsoe way to close off the show. I think it was a great idea to add this no dq to the match it helped it alot. This was there first match of there series that they would have over the next few months and i would say this one was preatty good. It was also not austin dominating the whole match like i thought it would be just for pay back. Lots of blood from hhh chirs, ring bell tables and a sweet ending that you willhave to see to believe. Winner no contest. Match Rating 9.5/10.
Well that raps up another. I would give survivor series 2000 a grade of 59/90 which is a 66% which means this is a good ppv. This would have been alot better but the womens and europen title brought it down. If you can tell me if my review was helpful or not i would appericate that. Thanks for your time.
Movie Review: WWF Survivor Series 2000: Rattlesnake's Revenge Summary: 3 Stars
Six-Person Intergender Tag Team Match:
Steve Blackman, Crash Holly, & Molly Holly vs. Test, Albert, & Trish
This was a real let down it was a good match although it did not carry anything special with it that I expected it to do. Molly portrays her ring skill and that's about it. 5.5/10
Classic 8 Man Tag Elimination Survivor Series Match:
Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, & Perry Saturn V. Chyna, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, & K-Kwik
Good match that had the potential to be an excellent match. Firstly it was too short for an 8 man elimination match and also again nothing special was seen during the match. K-Kwik gave a really good short-lived performance and the Road Dogg was terrible in this match. Billy Gunn was the only wrestler of his team that knew what he was doing throughout the match. In the End of the match Beniot & Saturn barely survived cheating on Billy Gunn. 6/10
Chris Jericho vs. Kane
This could just maybe the match of the night of the Survivor Series. There was plenty of action in and out of the ring between these two. Plenty of near falls and counters by both Kane & Jericho. Anyway a well put together match-up resulting in Kane winning with his chokeslam. 8.5/10
WWF European Championship:
William Regal (c) vs. Hardcore Holly
A terrible match with Regal trying to break Holly's arm resulting in Holly getting all pissed off and grabs the title and whacks Regal in the face with it. 4.5/10
The Rock vs. Rikishi
I thought that this was a not bad of a match considering the Rock's supposedly physical condition. A cool moment was when Rock got stink-faced and then Rock clotheslined Rikishi and turned him into a complete somersault flip. Rock wins with the help from the people. 7/10
WWF Womens Championship:
Ivory (c) vs. Lita
An average match with a heroic performance by Lita who was bleeding above her eye throughout the match. 5/10
WWF Championship:
Kurt Angle (c) Vs. Undertaker
This should've been the damn main event of the whole ppv what a match!!! Undertaker completely dominated Angle almost winning the match about three times. I love the ending where Taker Last rides Angle although it's not Kurt Angle its Eric Angle his brother leading to a school boy by Angle to retain the wwf title. 9/10
Classic 8 Man Tag Elimination Survivor Series Match:
Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, D-Von Dudley, & Bubba Ray Dudley vs. Edge, Christian, The Goodfather & Bull Buchanan
Finally an elimination match that is really worth watching way better than the last two. The action was great and at a really fast pace throughout the match. The match was a little bit short although it did not affect the value of the match at all. 7.5/10
No Disqualification Match:
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Triple H
Not main event material but certainly worth a watch. This match was very brutal and HHH literally got his ass kicked. Weapons used included ring bell, announce tables, chairs and soda machines. The ending was great where HHH was in that car that was elevated by Austin's forklift and then he dropped the car. A spectacular finish and yes the Rattlesnake indeed gets his revenge upon HHH 9.5/10.
Overall mark 63.5/90 which is 69% that roughly is a B meaning Survivor Series is not really worth purchasing on DVD or VHS its better viewed via rental. I recommend buying this ppv only if you really want it to your wwe collection. Thankyou for reading my review on Survivor Series 2000.
Movie Review: WWE Survivor Series 2000 Summary: 3 Stars
WWE Survivor Series 2000 was a very dissapointing event. The main matches failed to deliver, and there was little on the undercard that was worth watching. There are some decent matches, but overall this event could of been much better. There are few titles on the line, and just not a whole lot of excitement at this event. It was built around an epic feud between Stone Cold and Triple H over the who ran over Stone Cold? mystery, where Triple H was revealed as the one who ordered Rikishi to do it. They settle there differences in a boring match, which sees Austin just sqaushing HHH. Rikishi is also involved, feuding with the Rock which culminates in another shoddy bout. Kurt Angle defending his WWE title against the Undertaker is the only decent main event outing, and that was not really that good. I will review each match and rate it out of five (*****):T & A and Trish vs. Crash, Steve Blackman and Molly Holly: Energetic opener with good wrestling from the chicks. Parts are somewhat sloppy though, and it dragged whenever Albert was in. **3/4 Survivor Series Elimination Match - Chyna, K Kwik, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn vs. The Radicalz (with Terri): Another good match with excellent grappling from Chris Benoit. The finsih is very stupid though, and Billy Gunns tedious brawling dragged it down a notch. *** Kane vs. Chris Jericho: Very tedious, as many expected in this match. Kane did not sell much for Jericho, and the action was not particularly attention grabbing, although it picked up a bit near the end. *3/4 European Championship - Hardcore Holly vs. William Regal: Awful would describe this. All it was was Regal beating up Hardcores injured arm and the finish is pathetic, which seemed to be the trend this evening. At least this was short. 3/4* The Rock vs. Rikishi: Slow and sloppy would be a good way to describe this. The Rock is awesome, but Rikishi is awful and dragged this bout down to his level. The crowd were not really into this either. **1/4 Womens Championship - Ivory vs. Lita: Ok match, nothing special. Basic womens action although Lita gets a nasty cut above her eye just seconds into the match, and although bleeding profusely, manages to finish the brawl. Another screwjob finish. **1/2 WWE World Championship - Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle: Match of the night, as Kurt can get a good match out of anyone. The Edge and Christian interference if unnecessary, and this match has yet another screwjob finish. ***1/2 Survivor Series Elimination Match - Hardy Boyz and Dudley Boyz vs. Right to Censor: Pretty good overall, although the elimination have no build up and are very sudden. Still, better than most of the other stuff attempted on this tape. ***1/4 Stone Cold vs. Triple H: This had potential to be a match of the year candidate. It was not. All it consisted of was Stone Cold throwing HHH around like a rag doll, and the finish is extremely anticlimatic, and tops off a dull event. **1/4 Overall, I did not enjoy this. The wrestling was sub-par, the finishes ..., the wrestling was sloppy, overall just not particularly enjoyable. I would reccomend renting perhaps, but do not buy unless you really must. I made that mistake. It does however have some good action, which pulls the rating up a notch. Final Rating - Three Stars (***)
