Movie Reviews of WWF: Summer Slam 2001

Movie Review: Summerslam-FREAKIN AWESOME
Summary: 5 Stars

This was one of the best PPVs ever, Here are the matches:

Intercontinental Title
Lance Storm vs Edge
Sweet Opener, great counters and moves
with Edge hittin the Edgecution for the
win 7/10

Test & Dudleyz vs Spike & APA
Good tag match, with some fast paced action,
interference from Shane, and a sick table bump
by Spike 6/10

Light Heavyweight Title & Cruiserweight Title Unification
Tajiri vs X Pac
Wow much better than expected, great moves and counters
with Albert costing Tajiri the match, but still gettin
misted 6.8/10

Chris Jericho vs Rhyno
Good solid match where Rhyno really shines. If watch the
crowd, you'll see some funny signs about Steph's upper
package after gettin liplocked by Jericho. 6/10

Hardcore Title Ladder Match
Rob Van Dam vs Jeff Hardy
Holy S*** this was amazin Countless high spots, Great
and innovative ladder use like powerbombs, moonsaults
and a springboard Whisper in the Wind, all ending with a
nod to each other from both men for an excelent performance. 10/10

WCW & WWF Tag Team Title Cage Match
Undertaker & Kane vs DDP & Kanyon
Entertaining Squash, where DDP & Kanyon actually don't
do too bad, even though DDP still gets an ass whoopin of
a lifetime, courtesy of the Last Ride. 5.5/10

WWF Title
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Kurt Angle
A great, intense match. Angle got rammed into the
ringpost sooo many times, bleedin like crazy, but
still puttin up the fight of a lifetime. The ending
sucks big time though(DAMN YOU NICK PATRICK) 9.5/10

WCW Title
Booker T vs The Rock
Yet another great title match, with Shane gettin knocked on
his McMahon ass by the APA, and the Great One layin the
Summerslam Smackdown on Booker T's candy ass to become the new
WCW Champion. 9/10

The Extras are good too, with the hillarious Austin Appreciation
Night, where Angle gives the Alliance its daily dose of dairy.

Movie Review: Great Summerslam Event
Summary: 5 Stars

1) Edge vs Lance Storm
Intercontinental Title
9/10, Great way to blast off Summerslam with Edge becoming the IC champion again.

2) Spike and The APA vs Test and the Dudleys
6/10 Worst match of the night with Shane O'Mac coming in and blasting Bradshaw with the chair to give Test the win.

3) X-Pac vs Tajiri
Cruiserweight vs Light Heavyweight Championship
9/10, Great fast paced action with X-Pac winning with two X-Factors to unify the cruiserweight title.

4) Chris Jericho vs Rhyno w/ Stephanie McMahon
8/10, Good match with some good moves but only a few slow parts. Rhyno comes close, but Jericho wins with the Walls of Jericho.

5) Jeff Hardy vs Rob Van Dam
Hardcore Title, Ladder match
10/10, Great match with all kinds of weapons used. Even though Jeff Hardy sucks, he puts on great matches. RVD wins.

6) Undertaker and Kane vs DDP and Kanyon
Steel Cage, WWF and WCW Tag Titles on the line
9/10, Just because DDP and Kanyon got the crap beat out of them. Brutal match with Taker and Kane winning with Taker giving the perverted DDP the Last Ride.

7) Stone Cold vs Kurt Angle
WWF Title
10/10, O MY GOD WAS THIS GREAT!!!! Very brutal! Easily the Match Of The Night. Match of the year canidate. The only disapointing thing was the ending with the ref DQ'ing Austin for attacking the refs. Kurt wins but Austin retains the title. After the match Kurt gives the ref who DQ'ed him the Anklelock.

8) Booker T vs The Rock
WCW Title
8/10, Good match with a great ending, with The Rock giving Booker T the Rock Bottom and becoming the WCW Chamipon. But, Austin vs Angle should have been the main event, not this.

Overall if you can find this DVD buy it, even if you hate wrestling and think it is too violent buy it. Even non-wretling fans would enjoy this.

Movie Review: Summerslam 2001
Summary: 5 Stars

Edge VS Lance Storm: A good way to start off the PPV. Nothing to exciting but still good mat wrestling with Edge winning the IC belt in the end.

Dudley's and Test VS APA and Spike Dudley: A short but sweet match.

X-Pac VS Tajiri: A very good match between these two lightweights

Rhyno VS Chris Jericho: A very good story behind this match and the match was good. I prefered a hardcore match over this regular match.

Jeff Hardy VS RVD in a Ladder match: While this is not as good as Invasion, this match is still very exciting and well worth checking out.

DDP and Kanyon VS Undertaker and Kane in a Cage match: Kanyon and DDP were very good and exciting wrestlers but WWE wanted former WCW members to look as weak as possible. That being said, the match was decent but nothing worth going out of the way for.

Kurt Angle VS Steve Austin: Match of the night, maybe match of the year. A truly awesome bout that went all over the place and Angle was on his A game. The ending sucked but it really didnt take much away from this epic match.

Rock VS Booker T: Rock returns and wins the WCW world title from Booker T in a entertaining match. It wasn't good as Angle-Austin but still very good.

Overall, I enjoyed the Invasion angle even though WWF handled it poorly. DDP could have been a great heavyweight champion but he jobbed to Undertaker and hovered around the midcard. This PPV is highly recommend and Angle-Austin is one of the greatest matches you'll ever witness despite a crappy ending. It's true, it's damn true!

Movie Review: One of my all time favorite PPV's
Summary: 5 Stars

When people think back on the year 2001 for the WWE, Wrestlemania 17 and No Way Out always come to mind. While those were the two best shows of the year, Summerslam was definately not far behind. With the acception of one match, the entire card was enjoyable. The IC Title match between Edge and Lance Storm was very technically sound and suspenseful. The Cruiserweight Title match between X-Pac and Tajiri was fast paced and filled with non-stop action. Rhyno vs Jericho was one of the best matches on the card. The highlight of the match was seeing Jericho jump off the top rope and get gored in mid-air by Rhyno. RVD and Jeff Hardy were amazing in their Hardcore title "Ladder Match". It is filled with tons of fast paced high flying action combined with some brutal bumps. The Rock vs Booker T for the WCW Title was very suspenseful and fun to watch. The match that stole the show was Kurt Angle vs Austin for the WWE title. It had to be one of the best matches I have ever seen. It went back and forth until the very end. The ending is highly controversial and upsetting, which is the only downfall of the match.

Overall, Summerslam 2001 is one of the best WWE shows I have ever seen in the ten years that I have been watching wrestling. Practically every match had something to offer and Kurt Angle vs Austin will go down as one of the greatest matches ever. I highly recommend picking this show up. You will not be dissapointed.

A solid 5 stars...

Movie Review: Summerslam 2001,probaly greatest Summerslam!
Summary: 5 Stars

Okay i'm gonna right a quick review cause i'm sort of tired of typing. i'll make a longer one later.

1. Lance Storm VS. Edge: Great opener and edge did good did some cool moves 9/10

2. Six Man Tag APA/Spike VS. Dudleyz/Test: Actually, a pretty good match. Spike try's the Dudley Dog but is sent flying through a table outside! 8.5/10

3. Tajiri VS. X-Pac: Good cruiserweight match with some awasome action. Not much else to be said. 8.5/10

4. Chris Jericho VS. Rhyno: A great match. Flashbacks to when rhyno was actually used right. and when stephanie was a total bitch. lol 9/10

5. Ladder match: Jeff Hardy VS. RVD: My favirote wrestler of all time, Jeff Hardy, VS. another great high flyer in RVD. An awesome match, second best on the card, with some unbelivable stuff. Wish jeff won. i miss him. 10/10

6. Steel Cage: Taker/Kane VS. DDP/KANYON: Well, not necasirily a good match, considering it's a cage match, but it is sometimes fun to watch Taker and Kane dominate 7.5/10

7. Stone Cold VS. Kurt Angle: Awesome match. Brutal. If Angle won, or at least if there was no DQ, it would be a hands down classic. Still, the match of the night. 10/10

8. The Rock VS. Booker T: A pretty good match, not as good as austin vs. angle, but pretty good. Rock rightfully wins the title and shane gets the heck beaten out of him. 9/10
