WWE/TNA Invasion 2007
Madison Square Garden
June 14, 2007
This Pay-Per-View broke through the roof!!! This was one of the best Pay-Per-Views i've ever seen. This was not a boring RAW vs. Smackdown! vs. ECW (the new and boring one which will get canceled pretty soon!!!), no this was World Wrestling Entertainment WWE vs. Total Non-Stop Action TNA. This was a great Pay-Per-View, all though it did not show off some of TNA's greatest talents it was pretty good from my perspective.
Rating Guide:
10/10=A
9/10=B
8/10=C
7/10=D
6/10=F
5 below=???
Intro/Pyro (Fireworks):
The pyro probably cost half of what TNA's cost. So you could tell who was really in charge of putting the Pay-Per-View together.
Match 1: Rob Van Dam (WWE) vs. AJ Styles (TNA):
This was a perfect match. They both matched up perfectly. They are both risktakers and... well you kind of just need to watch the match to see what i'm talking about. Well anyway the match ended with AJ Styles trying to hit his finishing move, what ever the heck it's called but Rob Van Dam countered it into the Rolling Thunder. RVD then went up for the 5 Star frog splash, but Christopher Daniels came out and pushed him off when the Referee was being distracted by Jim Cornette. AJ Styles then hit his finishing move on Rob Van Dam and pinned him for the three count.
Winner: AJ Styles
Crowd Favorite: AJ Styles
Rating: 9/10
*After Match: Rob Van Dam whacked Christopher Daniels with a steel chair and got the 5 star frog splash on AJ Styles.
Promo: AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels offers a Tag Team match between Styles, and Daniels against RVD and a partner of his choice.
Backstage: Jim Cornette is walking back to his office when he got confronted by Paul Heyman, who offered Jim Cornette a challenge to a match between them two. Jim Cornette accepted! They both stared eachother down and Paul Heyman slapped Jim Cornette and laughed as he walked away.
Match 2: Hardcore Match: Hardcore Championship: Sabu (WWE)vs. Raven (TNA):
Finally, they bring back a title that was actually interesting, and what a better way to have it decided between Raven and "The Homicidal, Suicidal, Genecidal", Sabu. Raven came to the ring with his followers Johnny Devine, Frankie Kazarian, and Maverick Matt. If that wasn't enough when Sabu came to the ring he brought his new manager Bill Alfonso, but thats not all he also had a trash can filled with weapons and what should be ECW's trademark weapon, a 2 by 4 wrapped in barbed wire. The match started off crazy, Raven hit a suicide dive off the top ropes of the ring to the outside before Sabu even got in the ring. The first thing Raven got were weapons. Raven grabbed the trash can lid and whacked Sabu over the top of the head with it. Then Raven called over his followers to set up some tables while Raven beat Sabu bloody with a crowbar. Raven went under the ring to grab a ladder, but Bill Alfonso tried to grab it away from Raven but ended up getting hit right across the face with it. Raven set the ladder up (Keep in mind Sabu didn't even get in the ring yet) and Johnny Devine put Sabu on the table and Raven went for a cross body from the top of the ladder but Sabu moved last minute as Raven crashed to the floor. We then saw Maverick Matt try to go for the pin (anyone can go for the pin even during a scheduled match) but Frankie Kazarian pulled him off the pin and shoved him but Maverick Matt shoved him back over the guard rail and when he turned around Johnny Devine grabbed the trash can and slammed him over the head with it. When Johnny Devine tried waking up Raven and realized that didn't help he grabbed the Singapore Cane and was going to whack Sabu but all of a sudden The Sandman's entrance music played and he rushedd down to ringside and beat the living hell out of Johnny Devine with the Singapore Cane, Sabu then got back up and set up a table and put Raven on the table, he then topped it off by putting a chair on Ravens face. Sabu then climbed up the ladder and hit the Arabian Face Buster on Raven, he then pinned him for the three count.
Winner: Sabu (Hardcore Cahmpion)
Crowd Favorite: Sabu
Rating: 8/10
Backstage: Todd Grisham interview with Rob Van Dam and he says he accepts Styles & Daniels challenge, and he's got a partner.
Match 3: Kevin Nash (TNA) vs. Big Show(WWE):
This was a slow match. Two big men. There was only one dominant man during this match. Even when the Paparazzi came out Big show just slammed through them. But in the end Kevin Nash prevailed by knocking out the WWE referee and bringing in the TNA referee Mark "Slick" Johnson, who easily called the match off and announced Kevin Nash the winner.
Winner: Kevin Nash
Crowd Favorite: ???
Rating: 2/10
Match 4: Tag Team Match: AJ Styles & Christopher Daniels vs. Rob Van Dam:
When Rob Van Dam came out he made a shocking announcment as to who his partner was. He announced TNA's own Rhino as his partner. The match started off with Rhino goring both Styles and Daniels. Rob Van Dam then hit the 5 Star Frog Splash off the top rope. Rob Van Dam then pinned Styles for the three count.
*Jim Cornette then came out and announced it a no contest since the match wasn't scheduled.
Winner: No Contest
Crowd Favorites: Rhino & Rob Van Dam
Rating: 7/10
Backstage: We see JBL talking to Farooq about reuniting as a tag team. We wait for Farooq to say his catch phrase but he says this time, "OK!!!".
Match 5: Womens Championship Match: Christy Hemme (TNA)vs. Trish Stratus:
This was a typical Diva's match it was really boring!!!
Winner: Christy Hemme (TNA Womens Championship)
Crowd Favorite: Both
Rating: 0/10
Match 6: TLC: Christian Cage (TNA) vs. Edge (WWE):
Amazing match!!! This was a classic brother versus brother match. This was an all out brawl. Almost ten tables were broken in this match not counting the ending. There was a lot of ladder moves. The match ended with Edge spearing Christian Cage off the stage ramp through two tables which makes it a total of twelve tables in all.
Winner: Edge
Crowd Favorite: Christian Cage
Rating 10/10
Match 7: Jim Cornette vs. Paul Heyman:
Boring match. Match ends with Big Show interfering and pretending like he was going to chokeslam Jim Cornette through the announce table but he grabbed Paul Heyman's throat and Choke Slammed him through the table.
Winner: Jim Cornette
Crowd Favorite: Jim Cornette
Rating: 4/10
*Big Show announces that he is moving to TNA, and WWE can kiss his rear!!!
Match 8: Steel Cage Match: Kurt Angle vs. Vince McMahon:
Bloody and exciting match this was a great grudge match.
Winner: Vince McMahon
Crowd Favorite: Kurt Angle
Rating: 10/10
Match 9: Scott Stiener (TNA) vs. Test (WWE):
Slow match!!!
Winner: Test
Crowd Favorite: None
Rating: 6/10
Match 10: TNA/WWE Tag Team Championahip Match: Hardy Boyz vs. The Dudleyz:
Great Tag Team Match. This was about 7 years in the making. Great way to end a fued with a grudge match!!!
Winner: Hardy Boyz (World Tag Team Champions)
Match 11: Lance Hoyt vs. Tommy Dreamer:
Not such a great match. A mix of two styles, Hardcore/martial arts versus power/strength.
Winner: Lance Hoyt
Crowd Favorite: Tommy Dreamer
Rating: 3/10
Match 12: Main Event: World Heavyweight Championship Match: TNA vs. WWE: Batista (WWE) vs. Samoa Joe (TNA):
Great amazing match.
Winner: Samoa Joe
Crowd Favorite: Both
Rating: 10/10
That wraps up another Pay-Per-View. Great Pay-Per-View. This is what happens when two worlds collide and creates mass chaos!!!
