Movie Review: WWE Unforgiven 2003
Summary: 5 Stars

The Unforgiven series is a great part of my collection of wrestling dvds. I try to purchase each year that comes out, that way you can see how things changed from one year to the next. You can see new moves or techniques that they use.

Movie Review: Raw will never be the same.

With the first Raw ppv having HIAC matches what could happen here. We can only see it live in Herseys, Pen. when the 2nd Raw PPV only hits air.

Movie Review: Unforgiven 2003
Summary: 4 Stars

This PPV fits in very well with the streak of successful events WWE put on in 2003 (Vengeance, No Mercy, Survivor Series). Aside from one match, the card was very solid.

Here is the card:

World Tag Titles 3 on 2 Handicap Table Match:
La Resistance & Rob Conway vs. Dudley Boyz
This was a good choice as an opener. Probably not the most remarkable table match in history, but you get as much as you can out of it when La Resistance is working with tables. Adding the 3 on 2 aspect to it and eventually making it for the titles was a nice little touch. Had some nice spots and a good pace.

Test vs. Scott Steiner
This match had the stipulation that whoever managed to win the match would get Stacy Kiebler's services, and there was a great video package before the entrances. The feud had been brewing for several months at this point. As far as the match, it's good, but nothing memorable. Stacy's role at ringside was interesting as well, and added to the charisma of the match. Take a look at this one once or twice.

Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
Great match here. Randy Orton had just started his bit doing the legend vs. legend killer matches. This was probably the best of all of those. The match was long, but the crowd stayed into the action the whole time. Ric Flair had a couple of comic spots in there, mostly towards the end. The ending seemed to be a bit controversial though, with Flair getting the brass knuckles. I did not really like the ending, but the rest was definitely very very solid.

Gail Kim & Molly Holly vs. Trish Stratus & Lita
I was very satisfied with this match. Kim was making her PPV debut here and Lita was making her PPV return after several years of being out for neck surgery. Lita performed very well, as well as the rest of the women. There were no botched moves, and some were executed very well. It was great to see Stratus and Lita take the victory. Very good divas match, but I would not expect any less from these four.

Last Man Standing Match:
Kane vs. Shane McMahon
The feud here had a great story-line, and you could easily get into the emotion of it. Kane had recently done a tombstone piledriver to Shane's mother Linda McMahon, and Shane was looking to get some retribution. The match is very hardcore, as advertised. The contest gets off to somewhat of a slower pace, but picks up towards the end when the festivities go outside of the ring. Shane McMahon takes an incredible fall off the stage at the end of the match. Overall, probably the best match on the entire card, which is really saying something.

Intercontinental Title Triple Threat Match:
Christian vs. Chris Jericho vs. Rob Van Dam
The best match on the DVD is probably the Last Man Standing Match, but this is definitely a close second. All of the moves are executed perfectly; all of these guys work really well with one another. There are a couple of really good spots in the match including a fall off the top rope including all three of the superstars. The contest had really good timing. Only bad thing about the match was that the crowd was not into it as much as it deserved, but in their defense they were probably still in awe from Shane's free fall a few moments prior.

Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler vs. Al Snow & Jonathan Coachman
OK-- this was not good. The stipulation for the match was that the winners would be able to be the broadcasters of Monday Night RAW. What we have here is a some washed up talent, a stupid storyline, and a match with no commentators. This should have been left off the show. The only DUD on the card.

World Heavyweight Title:
Triple H vs. Goldberg
Yet again we have a match stipulation. The catch here was that Triple H could lose the title if he got counted out or disqualified, and if Goldberg did not win the title, he would have to retire. The match is pretty good. It was not as good as some of the matches on the undercard, but it was very solid. It was a little short, with the highlight being Goldberg winning his first gold in WWE. Overall, not too bad. I recommend tuning in to this one once or twice.

The only downfall of this DVD is that it does not have any extras. There are a few incredible matches including the Michaels/Orton, the Last Man Standing, and the Intercontinental Title triple threat. Luckily, this event is available for a pretty cheap amount of money. I highly recommend.
