Movie Review: Bonus matches! Makes up for the lack of good promos

The only other Rock DVD I saw before this was "The People's Champ" which was from 1999-2000 and pretty much had no bonus matches (save for the clipped ones in the documentary) but loads of great and classic promos.
This one had more of a "shoot" feel to it, with The Rock talking to us as himself, acknowledging that "The Rock" is a character (though not directly) and talking mostly about his wrestling career, but a fair amount about his movie career with The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King. Watching the movie tidbits are embarassing crap that would only entertain 8 year olds; the same sort of tired, generic, ass-kissing crap of "Producer: Well you know... The Rock was just great, he was a great actor, great on the set, always listening and cool, great guy all around, just great"
Much of the promos in the documentary and bonus features were okay, but nowhere near as great as the ones in "The People's Champ", and a lot of classics are missing, such as the promo before Armageddon 2000 where he mocks all his Hell in a Cell opponents (Rikishi, Kurt Angle, The Undertaker, Triple H, Stone Cold Steve Austin), or the one he did with little William Regal and little Kurt Angle, and ones against The Radicalz, and especially Eddie Guerrero.
The bonus matches are great. The best one for me was a street fight against Shane McMahon from a random episode of Raw Is War. A classic.
Summary of WWE - The Rock - Just Bring It
The Rock is probably the only guy in history who's as much fun to listen to as to watch wrestle. The man works a microphone better than anyone, with wit and flair that charm even non-wrestling fans. The best thing that can be said about Just Bring It! is that the WWE includes a ton of the Rock's interviews that are laugh-out-loud funny. However, as far as the matches go, well, let's just say that the Brahma Bull's in-ring shtick is getting as predictable and old as Hulk Hogan's leg drop. Though from the outside this looks like a comprehensive look at the Rock's career (? la the infinitely superior Hulk Still Rules), it's not; instead it covers 2000 to '02, a time when the Rock was focusing more on acting (there's some behind-the-scenes footage from The Scorpion King) than wrestling. Except for the Rock vs. RVD, the matches are underwhelming and can be found on numerous pay-per-view DVDs. The Rock is called the People's Champion. If that's the case, the WWE needs to give the people what they deserve: a comprehensive Rock DVD. --Dave McCoySports DVD Video
