Movie Reviews of WWE Survivor Series 2004

Movie Review: WWE Survivor Series 2004: The Battle for Survival Begins!
Summary: 5 Stars

1. Cruiserweight Championship of the World
-Spike Dudley (Champ) vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Billy Kidman

Great opener. The best opener (probably) of 2004. For some reason, the WWE didn't want to make the Kidman/Guerrero conflict a major feud, so they make this match for Chavo to get a measure of revenge. Spike retains. 9/10

2. Intercontinental Championship
-Shelton Benjamin vs. Christian with Tyson Tomko

Another great match. I'm so sick of Christian getting title matches and major PPV matches. Benjamin, although an excellent athlete, is just a bit overrated with all of these promotions of how he had a rough childhood and stuff like that. Also, I feel that the IC Title has lost its prestigue and rank over the years. What happened to classic IC title matches like Savage vs. Steamboat or Michaels vs. Ramon or even Hart vs. Austin. Instead we have Benjamin vs. "Captain Charisma" (Or: Super Overrated untalented cry-baby from Toronto) But whatever. This match was good while it lasted. 8/10

3. Smackdown!'s Classic Survivor Series Match
Team Angle: vs. Team Guerrero:
Kurt Angle Eddie Guerrero
Luther Reigns Big Show
Mark Jindrak Rob Van Dam
Carlito Caribbean John Cena
Cool with Jesus

I felt bad that the WWE decided to cut down the Survivor Series matches from 10-Men to 8-Men. This is actually how the original Survivor Series Matches were, 4 vs. 4. I thought that these two teams were good picks. I also felt bad that Carlito was eliminated bfore he even had a chance to wrestle. Kurt Angle dominates Eddie Guerrero in the Early-Going. Van Dam tags in, only to be pinned by Angle. Guerrero pins Jindrak and Reigns. Big Show pins Angle. A short but very entertaining bout. 8.5/10

Backstage, Maven gets eliminated from the Main Event by Gene Snitsky.

Heidenreich vs. The Undertaker

Surprizingly, a good match. One of the better One-on-one matches of the PPV. Heidenreich reminds me of Psycho Sid for some reason. Undertaker pulls it off against the Psychotic One. 8.5/10

Womens' Championship
-Trish Stratus vs. Lita

Bad, horrible match. You finally get Lita, a descent Womens Wrestler, off of the recovery list, and you make her get disqualified? Dumb move. The chair shot was so, horribly fake. Lita hits the security wall and 2 seconds later, Trish's body squirms, trying to make it look like she actually got hit and she's squirming in pain. Then she throws Trish into the steel stairs, supposedly breaking her nose. Trish retains. Lita's Disqualified. Vinnie Mac's Happy. 0/10

WWE Championship
-J.B.L. vs. Booker T

First of all, if Booker would've won, he would have become the One-Time WWE Champion, not the 6-Time World Champ. The World Title, which he won 5 times, is on RAW. Back to the match. It's better than what I've expected. I didn't really expect Booker T to win. This feud seems too impromtu and rushed to be a major Title Match. They just made it so Booker could be in the Fatal-4-Way, which was off the hook, at Armageddon. But anyway, Booker T definitly out wrestled Bradshaw. This match was both fast-paced and slow, a good combination. It would've become a classic if Orlando Jordan would've stopped interfering every 5 minutes and if J.B.L. would've lost. At least we get to see Booker do his old Signature move on Bradshaw, The Houston Hangover. 8/10

RAW's Classic Survivor Series Match
Team Triple H: vs. Team Orton:
Triple H Randy Orton
Batista Chris Benoit
Edge Chris Jericho
Gene Snitsky Maven

Triple H's team already has the advantage from the get-go as Maven was eliminated from Team Orton. It's a bit obvious who's going to win, but here's my review anyways. It starts off good. Benoit is screwed again as he is the 1st (Whoops! I mean 2nd!) one eliminated from the match. It eventually comes down to Orton vs. Triple H in the end. It's wierd how this confrontation between the only lasted a couple of seconds. Team Orton wins. A great match but a couple of problems. Why was Maven eliminated? Why was Benoit screwed again? Why was Gene Snitsky in the Main Event after he just debuted in a quick grudge match on RAW a month ago? Where are some prime stars, such as HBK? Kane? and others? Oh well... 9.5/10

Overall, a great PPV. I recommend this, Survivor Series 2003, and 2002. You won't regret it!
