Movie Reviews of WWE Survivor Series 2002 - Elimination Chamber

Movie Review: Almost perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

This PPV was one of the best I have ever seen. And I really mean that. A great main event with a more-than-solid undercard.

1. Six-man Elimination Table Match
Rico and Three Minute Warning vs. Spike and Bubba-Ray Dudley and Jeff Hardy

INCREDIBLE opener! On a personal note, I've always thought that elimination table matches are head and shoulders better than regular table matches, which are usually a snooze-fest. Also, it's awesome to see Jeff and Bubba working together in a table match. It's also kinda funny because two years previously at the 2000 Royal Rumble in MSG, they were in the very first table match against each other.

Pros: 1. D-Von and Bubba reuniting. 2. The splash onto Jeff is AWESOME! 3. "Jeff! Get the tables!"
Cons: 1. Slightly predictable Swanton from the entrance (The EXACT same thing happened at the Rumble table match.) 2. Rico needed a little more work.
Overall: 8/10 (Very Good)

Saliva plays Always from the World. Wicked cool because I'm a Saliva fan. :)

2. WWE Cruiserweight Title Match
Jamie Noble w/Nidia (Champ) vs. Billy Kidman

A very good fast-paced match. Both men give solid performances and are definitely worth watching. However, t does seem a little predictable with Nidia's unlimited interferences.

Pros: 1. Noble gives a Kidman a SICK DDT from the top turnbuckle (I'm not kidding, it almost hurt my stomach to look at it.) 2. High-flying, non-stop action.
Cons: 1. Predictable interferences. 2. Stale commentary (It really does contribute a lot to the match whether you realize it or not).
Overall: 6/10 (Good)

3. WWE Womens Championship Harcore Rules
Trish Stratus (Champ) vs. Victoria

Actually, a very good match. Ordinarily, I CAN'T STAND women's title matches, but this one was actually watchable and even brutal at parts. Not a bad match for women or for harcore (which is saying something because I LOVE hardcore matches).

Pros: 1. Trish gives Victoria a wicked trashcan lid shot that busts her nose open. 2. Victoria takes one hell of a pounding and still wins.
Cons: 1. It's kinda boring in places. 2. A LOT of moves are botched.
Overall: 5/10 (Good)

4. WWE Championship Match
Brock Lesnar w/Paul Heyman vs. The Big Show

Ugh... I hate Lesnar as a wrestler. As a fighter in Japan, he's good. As a wrestler, he's just bland, boring and unable to take direction when in the ring with someone more experienced. I like the Big Show, but I think he works best when he's in the ring with some weapons. This match was short, boring and predictable. However, I can't call it a let-down, because I thought it was going to suck going into it.

Pros: 1. Seeing Lesnar lose the title. :) 2. Seeing Heyman punch out the ref and lose his balance and his hat doing it.
Cons: 1. They centered the whole match on the "you can't beat the Big Show" angle, so it was obvious that he would get SO CLOSE...... and get betrayed by the person who told him that: Heyman. 2. The Big Show tries his hardest to carry Lesnar, but with the five minutes this match took, there was no way anyone was going to do well.
Overall: 2/10 (And that's being generous)

Three-team elimination match for the WWE Tag Team Titles
Edge and Mysterio (Champs) vs. Benoit and Angle vs. Chavo and Eddie Guerrero

This match is incredible! All three teams put on an incredible show. I would rank this match up there almost as highly as the main event. That's why it was scheduled AFTER the Lesnar/Big Show disaster (That just goes to show that even the WWE knew that match would suck). All teams work well together and compliment each other very well.

Pros: 1. I LOVED the Angle/Benoit pairing. It was hilarious outside of the ring and incredible to watch inside it. 2. Edge and Mysterio pull out some awesome moves from the top including an Edge-a-cution from the top turnbuckle that's just WICKED! 3. Eddie and Chavo pull out all their lying and cheating expertise to win this one. Kudos on an incredible match!
Cons: 1. I had to really think hard, but I found ONE thing wrong with this match: Angle and Edge didn't get a lot of time to go after each other (And there's really not anything incredibly wrong with that, but it's all I could come up with).
Overall: 9.5/10

Scott Steiner debuts by "beating up" Matt Hardy and Christopher Nowinsky for about a second. I found this irrelevant, stupid and rehearsed. But, maybe that's because I don't really like Steiner...

Six-Man Elimination Chamber Match for the World Heavyweight Title.
HHH (Champ) vs. RVD vs. Chris Jericho vs. Booker T vs. Kane vs. Shawn Micheals

One word: Awesome. This match doesn't drag, showcases talents of each competitor and gives a satisfying ending.
Rather than list the pros and cons, I'll just give a play-by-play.
The match begins with RVD vs. HHH, which I think is a good combination and should have been exploited more often and proceeds with HHH getting busted open in the earlyl going.
Next, Jericho enters and the double-team begins. I enjoyed watching Jericho and HHH team up, if only for five minutes.
Enter Booker T. He evens the odds for RVD for a moment and then they square off as Jericho and HHH lick their wounds. Then RVD hits a Five-Star Frog Splash on HHH from the top of a chamber only to hurt himself enough for Booker to eliminate him.
Then, in came the Big Red Machine. He pretty much decimates and eliminates Booker.
Shawn Micheals enters and a big four-way brawl ensues.
Kane then takes every finishing maneuver and is eliminated.
Again, Jericho and HHH team up, this time against HBK.
Intersting point occurs when Jericho has HBK eliminated and then HHH breaks up the three, claiming he wants to be the one to eliminate Micheals, then they go after each other until Jericho is gone.
HHH and Micheals slug it out. Now, I'll come right out and say it: I didn't think that Micheals was going to win this thing. This is one of the few times when I was dead-wrong. Micheals pulls the Sweet-Chin Music out of nowhere and that does it. New champ and miraculous comeback all at once!
Overall: 10/10 (Awesome match)

PPV Summary: 9/10 (Could have been ten without that damnable Lesnar match)
