Movie Review: Better than last years. And thats saying alot!
Summary: 4 Stars
For those who don't know. Cyber Sunday is WWEs online interactive event. It allows for fans to pick the type of matches for wrestlers. Also to pick opponents for important matches leading up to the event. Of course I picked and I wasn't very disappointed this year but a couple of these matches didn't belong on ppv.
Stretcher Match
Rey Mysterio vs. Finlay
I didn't pick this match because I don't like stretcher matches. And I didn't care for this match anyway. This wasn't a really good feud to me. Finlay just didn't blend well with Reys style. There were a couple of good spots concerning the stretcher. Some good strikes and the shillelagh on the pole added a bit of suspense. But this match just didn't do it for me even though it did have a decent ending. I prefered the no DQ. 2.5/5
Divas Halloween Costume Contest
Good thing this little segemt didn't take up too much time. Periodically a diva would cut a promo in their halloween outift. Some of them looked good but it's not really worth rating.
ECW Title
CM Punk vs. The Miz
I was shocked that the Miz beat out Morrison in the votes. I didn't pick him. The match in my opinion was better than expected. They blended pretty well and Punk is getting better each ppv. Some pretty good mat wrestling and nice counters. A real good clean ending also. This is a match I can watch again. 4/5
Mr. Kennedy vs. Jeff Hardy
These two were up against Shawn Michaels for the WWE title shot. No surprise they would both lose out to Shawn in that one. They put on a good match to me. Nothing I haven't seen before but still entertaining. Good lock ups and counters. Jeff's usual high flying with a clever finish. Another match I liked on this. 4/5
US Title
MVP vs. Kane
Due to Matt's injury there were 3 replacements to take his place. Kane was one of them and he won by a land slide against Khali and Mark Henry. Like that was a surprise. Who in thier right mind would want to see those two in the ring against anybody? I was looking forward to this match because of thier rivalry last year. I have to say this crapfest ranks at the bottom and should have been on Smackdown. Kane and MVP got in some average offense. But the slow pace, barely anything exciting and the very weak ending made this the worst match. 2/5
WWE Championship
Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels
This match started out pretty well and went well until the overly cheap ending. Good back and forth, some brawling, they got in some good spots. Shawn flying over the top rope and some basic mat wrestling working on a body part. It was just the ending. I just felt it was too cheap. 3.5/5
Street Fight
Triple H vs. Umaga
This has been a real good feud. I really enjoyed the build up to it. And it lived up to the hype. This fight started outside the ring and one man ended up being speared through the wall. Some real good spots in this one. Lots of brawling, weapon use, and Umaga splashes The Game through the announce table. A real good match with a good ending. One of the best of the night. 5/5
World Heavyweight Title with special guest referee
Batista vs. Undertaker
This match was alot of fun. It began with JBL self promoting himself to the fans to be picked for the match. His segments and verbal lashing on Mick Foley and Stone Cold was pretty funny. After he and Mick lost the votes to Stone Cold. JBL assaulted Mick right there. A brawl took place and Stone Cold joined the fight. In that short time Austin and JBL amped the crowd up pretty well.
Batista and Taker finally made their entrance and continued their great rivalry by delivering another fantastic match. Taker is one of the only few who brings out the best in Batsista and he did his job. Batista told a good inring story in trying to conquer the deadman. Some really good power moves and counters. The suspense was there as well. The ending was pulled off well and I won't say the wrong man won. But I wish it did go the other way. Great match. 5/5
The extras are very few and not that great. The funny part is JBL's interview. He is always hilarious to hear. The diva battle royal was good if you're looking for eyecandy but weak on the wrestling.
