Movie Reviews of Visual Bible - Acts

Movie Review: Wonderful work!!
Summary: 5 Stars

After seeing "The Visual Bible: Matthew" which was absolutely fantastic mainly due to Bruce Marciano's outstanding performance,I had low expectations-boy, was I wrong!!

The Visual Bible: Acts is a wonderful, very realistic movie, that is quite a big production due to the many themes necessary-shipwrecks, Roman governors, kings, trips all over the Mediterranean, imprisonments, miraculous escapes, Jesus' ascension, etc.
Many, many extras, wonderful locations that look as if time has stood still, wonderful costumes, and excellent performances from all the many actors.
It was one thing to read Acts, quite another to see this long book truly brought to life "word for word" from the Book of Acts. What a great way to not only bridge the 2000 year gap (because it took me back there), but also to learn so well all the things that fill the book of Acts with action and emotion.

I hope The visual Bible brings us more movies like Matthew and Acts, because they are the two very best Biblical movies ever-after seeing these two, the big Hollywood productions don't look so good or so real anymore.

Movie Review: A new part of the Bible on DVD
Summary: 5 Stars

Our family watches this DVD a lot, and I really liked seeing events from the book of Acts that I've never seen in a movie. Sometimes the actors seem to smile too much, or talk too slowly, but other than that it's great. You're hearing the whole text of the Bible, and can see the chapter and verse in the corner to get to know your way around the book. We often use it for background noise while we're working. That way, it's like an audio Bible, but you can look up and watch your favorite parts. They did a good job with reading between the lines and bringing out things like Paul's angry outbursts, friendships and love between believers, and the different cultures on Paul's missionary journeys. I still prefer the Gospel of John for quality, but Acts is still very good and brings to life events that are seldom shown in films.

Movie Review: Powerful tool for studying the booke of Acts (NIV)
Summary: 5 Stars

The script for this movie is virtually word-for-word from the NIV translation of the Bible. The book of Matthew is also available in this (NIV) video format and the two, Matthew and Acts, make a powerful tandem. Although we have to recognize that the staging of each movie requires some interpretive license for the direcor, so much of the work is plausible that the net effect is highly thought provoking for anyone who is seriously pursuing scriptural truth.

Movie Review: Nice production, 2nd only to the Visual Bible: Matthew.
Summary: 5 Stars

We enjoyed The Visual Bible: Acts almost as much as Matthew (though it lacks as many joyful scenes with Christ) and more than the Gospel of John. Acts lacks the many joyful scenes with Christ as Matthew had (naturally), but it's brighter and more hopeful than the Gospel of John (which has better film quality, but it almost over-produced). I only wish they made more of these.
