Movie Reviews of Visitor QMovie Review: One totally messed up film . . . Summary: 4 Stars
but strangely I was compelled and entertained at the same time. I won't go into the particulars of the story: incest, rape, necrophilia, physical abuse, drug abuse, prostitution and a crazily lactating mother because it sounds a bit more appalling, disgusting and offensive in print than it does on screen. However, in Takashi Miike's capable hands it's mindbogglingly entertaining and darkly, darkly humorous. Once I started watching this film I found my jaw dropping to the floor time and time again. I would scratch my head thinking surely he can't top that but scene after scene tops the last. Miike isn't a stranger to disturbing images and subject matter in his films which is why I'm such a fan of his but Visitor Q is by far his most violently tamest yet visually shocking film to date. Miike is one of those rare directors who isn't afraid to shock or offend. Only for the open minded movie adventurer.
Movie Review: Good, but not Miike's best. Summary: 4 Stars
One must think of Miike as Visitor Q. Hits people on the head with a rock, but only to bring them back together - to shock and horrify and injure only so that people realize the unpleasantness surrounding them. Reality television is horrific, to be honest, and yet people watch their fellow man eat worms and testicles for a little prize money. How is necrophilia any worse?
Extreme, yes. Difficult to watch? Definitely, but the filmmaking is incredible. This film being made in only a week with a handycam that can be purchased at any electronics store, it shows the level of expertise that Miike presents to the viewer.
Oh, and the little mosaic blurred out genitals? That's because it's illegal in Japan to show unblurred genitals/pubic hair. Not because of Miike's own doing.
Movie Review: Oh What a Visitor! Summary: 4 Stars
Let just say this film is not for everybody. It probably will offend some. You have a mom who is a prostitute and junky a son who is beaten by local class mates and then takes his short comings out on his mom by beating and just torturing her. A dad who is a reporter who has sex with his own prostitue daughter. You can see this alone makes for a sick and twisted faimly. I think you get the ideal about this film. There are more disturbing parts that you will have to see for yourself. If your looking for strange and different this film is it. You will have to read subtitles but its worth it. I think if your just tired of all the same old same old this film might just be for you. I say you must watch it once.
Movie Review: Got milk? Summary: 4 Stars
"Visitor Q" has it all to shock and amaze. The story is clear: a dysfunctional family--which, in my point of view, represents all of the moral values f****d up by today's chaotic, non-sense, empty and yet modern society--come together thanks to a stranger who helps them to free the real demons that they have been repressing by "acting normal".
My closing for this excellent movie after viewing it: the righteous way to be is represented by a nice and tasty gallon of milk. "Visitor Q" is the fire that will heat this liquid, so fast you would not notice when the milk spilled--be warned, the mess may not be of your liking.
Based on Passolini`s Teorema.
Movie Review: WTF Squared Summary: 4 Stars
This is a film that defies categorization... it's so out there and odd that it really stands on its own as a unique type of viewing experience. You'll be shocked, you'll laugh, and you'll say "WTF" a lot. I thoroughly enjoyed it... and I wish more movies just went for it like this one does. If you do rent it... stick with it... it gets progressively more and more bizzare as it goes on; and you'll find that its so odd, it almost become satirical and you'll find yourself laughing at how far they are taking some of the ideas.
If you are the type of person that enjoys stuff off the beaten path, then check this movie out and get ready for a head trip. Fun watch...
