Movie Reviews of Village People - Can't Stop the MusicMovie Review: Leathermen don't get nervous! Summary: 5 StarsThis movie kicks unbelievable [booty].I was stuck with friends attempting to go on vacation when this movie came on late-night cable TV. We died. It became imperative to own this movie. Thank the Village People it is still in release. The kids in Village People regalia during the milk commercial are priceless...
Movie Review: Not even bad enough to be good. Summary: 2 StarsMovieline wrote: "Like nothing you've ever seen before." I am not sure about that, but I am sure that it is like nothing I will ever see again. Not if I can help it.Maybe it was my own fault, because I knew that it was not the sort of film I would like. But from the reviews here, I thought I might get some camp value from it, and I was just curious. Also I was curious about how a band as obviously "gay" as the Village People could become so big in mainstream society. But this film reveals little if anything of that.
Movie Review: DTS Quality Falls Short of Expectation Summary: 4 StarsThey actually did a good job in remastering the video and audio but somehow, the DTS track falls short of expectation though - as in I've seen a lot of better sounding musical DVDs in Dolby Digital only.Very nostalgic.
Movie Review: One thing's for certain -- Summary: 5 StarsAny serious list of the 25 Worst Films of All Time must feature "Can't Stop the Music" prominently. And all serious lists of the Most Enjoyably Atrocious Films of All Time, "Can't Stop the Music" must, at the very least be in the Top Five.
Movie Review: DVD runs 5 minutes longer than the theatrical version! Summary: 5 StarsIf you are a fan of this film and own the DVD edition, you might have missed the fact that the DVD version (123 minutes) is 5 minutes longer than the 1980 theatrical version (118 minutes). I'll be taking a look at my VHS copy of the film recorded off HBO in the late 80's to check what was added on the DVD version. Thank you Anchor Bay for releasing not only a great looking and sounding widescreen edition of this campy classic but also for giving us 5 extra minutes of footage as well!
