Movie Reviews of Vietnam War Secrets

Movie Review: Vietnam War Secrets
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an incredible video series. Wow! Eleven hours. I really liked the introduction segment, the interview with former CIA officer Frank Snepp, the episodes about Secret War Cambodia and Secret Was Laos. I still don't understand why moore bombs were dropped on Laos during the Vietnam War than on Germany, Italy, and Japan combined during World War II. And why did the CIA have more persons in Laos than anyplace in the world? What was going on? I really liked the the episode about casuality statstics and the Vietnam Wall.

I did not know the Vietnam War is a big hoax. A pilot named Edward Brudno committed suicide three months after departing Vietnam while living with his relatives in Massachusetts and he is on the wall along with all the other men who committed suicide in Vietnam. Allegedly they are now heros. Then there is this Air Force soldier who was killed by another Air Force soldier in a fight over a bar girl and he is now the official first casuality of the war even though it was intentional homicide. And, all the guys who died from heroin overdose in Vietnam are on the wall. And of course all the deaths from friendly fire and fraggings.

Everything I watched was professionally produced in all aspects such as camera, sound, lights, and some of the film such as the story about Cambodia look like they were made for 60 Minutes. So, I guess the negative review is by a grumpy old man or some John Birch-Bomb Hanoi idiot. I say buy this series if you want to learn the truth abouth the war.

I am not a Vietnam expert like some reviewers and I did not serve in Vietnam or the military even though I was a teenager during the war. I seldom watch war programs but I had boyfriends who served in Vietnam and also know other men who have and they all told far different story than the official one. I was startled to learn the Gulf of Tonkin incident was fabricated just so Lyndon Johnson could defeat Barry Goldwater in the 1964 presidentail election and that at the same time the USA was loaning a half billion dollars to the Soviet Union so it could buy grain from U.S. farmers in order to prevent famone and riots. I am still shocked to think about that as I write this. All I can say is it is about time somebody revealed the secrets. I hope there is a sequel.

Summary of Vietnam War Secrets

"Vietnam War Secrets is an explosive documentary series revealing many long-time classified secrets on the Vietnam War and what was truly behind it. Producer Edward Rasen spent five years battling the U.S. Department of Defense for release of classified films and documents that will reveal a great deal of the factual truth. Mr. Rasen has also exposes the real situation in Viet-Nam through a first-time interview with General Nguyen Khanh, ruler of southern Viet-Nam during 1964-1965; and, Frank Snepp, former CIA chief analyst in Saigon from 1972 through April 29, 1975."

There are thousands of books, tens of thousands of newspaper and magazine stories and hundreds of hours of television reports have been produced about what is commonly called the Viet-Nam War. However, we are still in the dark on many events and actions as to why and how. Unfortunately, most Americans including military personnel were ignorant about Viet-Nam and the true nature of events from 1945 to the fateful day of April 30, 1975. We have been misled by political rhetoric and propaganda generated by U.S. presidents and their staffs. Unfortunately, the truth became the first casualty of war. Now some of the answers are revealed in "Vietnam War Secrets" a 4 disc box set. Through these never before released top secret documents and interviews, these facts undermine many myths which long have masqueraded as the truth. Edward Rasen is the former ABC News producer in Viet-Nam and Cambodia who uncovered the Killing Fields and has been a finalist for the annual Overseas Press Club award for best foreign reporting. He served in Viet-Nam as a combat infantryman and, Long Range Recon team leader plus, graduated from the MACV-5th Special Forces Group RECONDO School.
