Movie Reviews of Victory at Sea

Movie Review: Faithful reproduction at a super price
Summary: 5 Stars

If you just want the original Victory at Sea telecasts, this is a great buy. The other versions of this seem to be alot more expensive and you probably only get a little background material for the extra money (not worth it to me). I grew up on this stuff and like rewatching it every once in awhile. My son, who will be a history teacher, has his own copy. Great gift for history or WWII buff. I wish they'd make another 26 episodes with new footage.

Movie Review: Victory At Sea
Summary: 5 Stars

The best documentary ever produced is still the best documentary ever produced. This recap of the events before WWII, and during, and up through the end, are awe inspiring and presented in a history lesson on video. It inspired me as a youth, and I am still thrilled by the presentation of the greatest challenge to our country. I rate it as the best it can be.
Former: Capt. Combat Engineers, US Armed Forces, Occupation of Germany.

Movie Review: Rememberance of Things Past
Summary: 5 Stars

I watched this series on TV years ago with my Dad (a WW2 combat vet) and wanted to remember our time together, so I bought this DVD. I read that some folks had trouble with the audio. I took the advice of one of the other reviewers and disabled all of the DOLBY, etc on my TV and was completely satisfied with this very inexpensive version.

I would recommend it to anyone interested in WW2 history.

Movie Review: I thought I saw...
Summary: 5 Stars

While watching an episode of Victory at Sea on Public TV, the subject of which was the South Pacific, where my father was stationed in the Navy, I thought I saw him. I was able to buy this DVD at a very good price. Turns out, upon further review, it wasn't my father but a good deal nonetheless. I wouldn't rely on those reviewers who panned it for its sound or picture quality. It's just fine for what it is.

Movie Review: Real Life Drama
Summary: 5 Stars

For those of us old enough to have seen this series when it was originally shown on television, it is refreshing to be reminded of a simpler time when TV was not corrupted by political correctness or idiological pandering. This is history in its purest form, as it really happened, before the historians had a chance to distort it for political purposes. There is no Oliver Stone here. This is true History.
