Movie Reviews of Victoria & Albert

Movie Review: A love story
Summary: 4 Stars

The sets were wonderful, the clothes beautiful, the acting convincing and well done but I would have enjoyed a more historical account of that period and the trouble the queen had with her mother, the evil controller of the Dutchess' household, her mother's lady in waiting and the king Victoria replaced and also her true feelings about having so many children. I enjoyed the film having watched it more than once since received.

Movie Review: Worth watching
Summary: 4 Stars

I had seen the movie "Young Victoria" so I wanted to see how Victoria was portrayed as a matured queen. Although I was not disappointed, the setting was quite different, this movie did not have the glamour.

Movie Review: Victoria and Albert DVD Review
Summary: 4 Stars

This mini-series was very good. The period costumes were excellent and the acting was good as well. It gives a fairly accurate representation of Queen Victoria's younger days when meeting Prince Albert.

Movie Review: Duff
Summary: 4 Stars

Found the second disc not up to the first but overall the best I've seen on the topic.

Movie Review: "Albert & Victoria" is nothing more than soap opera drivel-sorry
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this dvd after reading some of the reviews listed here, and I thoroughly regret buying it. Victoria is portrayed by a woman who looks very much like Victoria's photographs and portraits' likeness, but presents her as a simpering, brainless girl, rather than the hot-tempered, dignified and strong woman she was. After reading the biography "We Two", this dvd was quite a letdown, and I greatly preferred the movie "The Young Victoria" (starring Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend) over this. The Dutchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, did quite a bit of research on the Queen, and presented that in that movie and in a book of Victoria and Albert's life at their summer/vacation home ("Victoria and Albert-A Life at Osborne House"). Almost nothing in this movie represents the truth, spare a few notable quotes. Queen Victoria didn't think much of Albert when they met at age 16, but when she was a bit older thought of him as quite stunning and very much enjoyed his company--this movie lets you think that this wasn't so, and even portrays her as being against the marriage after her coronation. What a disappointment this movie was-it was almost torture even watching the first of two dvd's. Like everyone said, the costumes were nice though-but not as nice as the one's in "The Young Victoria". Oh,well-off to the library in town......
