THE POWERS THAT BE HEARD THE MASSES DEMANDING THIS BE RELEASED ONTO DVD!!!not many extras are included though which i guess makes sense,1 cant expect too much!)its great to hear the commentary.i wrote a more definitive review for the VHS format so i wont repeat myself.BUT HEAVEN FOREBID THE STUDIO BIGHEADS RE-RELEASE THIS AS A 2DISC SPECIAL DIRECTORS/RIP CUSTOMER OFF UNCUT VERSION NEXT MONTH!by the way,why''the incident'',that multi award winning tour de force made back in 1960's with martin sheen? ive asked amazon to no avail.side note...now if only 3O'CLOCK HIGH,AFTER HOURS,WIERD SCIENCE,DEAD AND BURIED,LAST EXIT TO BROOKLYN,i know im forgetting many others,WILL BE ON DVD SOON!side note2-the wanderers also finally made it to DVD.ill leave you on this know the rest.Movie Review: A seminal film

I saw this first time in the movie theatre, and I got the feeling that most of the audience did not get it at all. After the film ended, one man said sarcastically: "I can't wait for the sequel!"
I think most people think it is comedy, due to Nick Cage's extreme acting. But... I don't think it really is. It is basically unclassifiable, and as such has a hard time in the market.
To me it was strange, and funny, and fascinating. I see it as a portrait of a man who is going mad. This is rare, and an extremely difficult thing to do, because we know so little about madness. And of course it is a very uncomfortable subject also.
Cage was just fantastic in this role.
Maria Alonso too, and so beautiful.
I recommend it, if you like to try different things.
Movie Review: satirical psychoanalysis

This movie is terribly misunderstood by those who have little understanding of the human psyche. Cage portrays a narcissist who desperately seeks love but equally fears it and cannot achieve it without disassociating from reality and creating a fantasy.
Although the movie is hilarious, it's equally disturbing as the viewer observes Cage's character developing from narcissist into psychopath and ultimately, a murderer. Apparently, he knows he has issues and attempts to desperately seek help from an egocentric psychiatrist.
Long and short; the movie is brilliant, Cage is brilliant and I must say it's one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'll never grow tired of watching it.
Definitely a movie for anyone who studies Psychology!

To true cinephiles,if Nicolas Cage ranks today alongside De Niro and Pacino as one of America's finest actors, he owes it to movies like "Vampire's Kiss". He delivers here one of his GREATEST and most elaborated performances already seen in "Birdy" and later to be seen again in "Leaving Las Vegas" "8MM" "Bringing out the dead" etc. Cage is not only a Hollywood super-star. First of all Nicolas Cage is my favorite actor in any kind of movie. This movie is both so funny and ludicrus at the same time, it rules. I know this might be a stretch but I consider this movie to be a cross between "Raising Arizona" and "Vampires". Nicolas Cage has the uncanny ability to bring out the humorous in ever realm of a character he plays. I guess this is what most people like to refer to as dark humor, which I guess it is, but all I know is that this is a weird and funny movie. If you are reading this review then you need to buy this movie.
