Movie Reviews of Urban Legend

Movie Review: Cool Just Like SCREAM and Beats Down I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER
Summary: 5 Stars

Jared Leto (AMERICAN PSYCHO), Alicia Witt (BONGWATER), Rebecca Gayheart (SCREAM 2), Michael Rosenbaum (SMALLVILLE), Tara Reid (AMERICAN PIE), Robert Englund (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET), Joshua Jackson (DAWSON'S CREEK), Loretta Devine (DOWN IN THE DELTA), Danielle Harris (HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS), Brad Dourif (CHILD'S PLAY), Vince Corazza (BRIDE OF CHUCKY), John Neville (THE ADVENTURES OF BARON MUNCHAUSEN), Natasha Gregson Wagner (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER 1992) and Julian Ritchings star in URBAN LEGEND, a great addition to 90s horror lineups. This movie has a great concept and as with every other slasher movie launched the career a certain group of actors; in this case Michael Rosenbaum, Tara Reid and Joshua Jackson. This movie follows the rules to urban legends instead of horror movies. This movie has great kills such as the Drain-O down the throat and even though this is not a death scene the Pepsi foaming out of the mouth like a rabies infected animal. This movie is fun so give it a watch if you can. Be careful, double sided DVD. Infinity out of infinity star rating!

Movie Review: URBAN LEGENDS AREN'T TRUE...
Summary: 5 Stars

I was nine when I first saw this and scared the holy f**cking bejeebuz out of me. It really was that f**cking scary.
It opens with a young woman driving on a dark road, singing the words to a song on the radio(very badly). She stops at a gas station, but runs when she thinks the attendant is attacking her. However the true threat lies in her back seat. Before she can do anything, an axe takes off her head.
Fast Forward a day or two.
Natalie, a student at a prestigious College has started doing urban legends in one of her classes. But soon, students begin to die, a guy who's hitting on her, her Goth room-mate. But all the deaths are based on hideous modern day myths, Urban Legends. Natalie was present at every one, but nobody does anything.
She and the survivors race to discover who's killing both students and members of the school faculty. And this is where the twist turn comes in.
A killer new breed of horror, with a slightly less good sequel, Urban Legend ranks number two on my teen slasher flicks (behind Final Destination).

Movie Review: A clever horror film, from an Aussie
Summary: 5 Stars

Aussie Director Jamie Blacks, pulled off his debut direction with ease. I am a major fan of the horror genre and I loved this film. Frights, Screams and one very scary outfit. Alicia Witt, is the Neve Campbell, or Jennifer Love Hewitt of Urban Legend. The main heroine whose best buds kick the bucket and manage to outrun every tactic the killer pulls. Horror movies are not meant to be believable, they're meant to entertain and scare. This film will have you guessing who the killer is, and the outcome is unexpected. Joshua Jackson has a small yet pivitol role, Jared Leto plays the love interest of Witt who is unsure of his beliefs against the murders, Michael Rosenbaum livens up the film as a party animal, Tara Reid, definitely a Hollywood Starlet to be is great as a sex-talk radio host, and Rebecca Gayheart plays the loyal best friend to each and every character. Its inventive, scary, often humourous and in the tradition of every horror filck, the opening scene will frighten and disgust. A fantastic horror/thriller

Movie Review: Enjoyable horror thriller
Summary: 5 Stars

Urban Legend is a clever, frightening and entertaining horror movie with a good plot and an original idea. It delivers horror, suspense, surprising shocks, good characters, humor, and plenty of gore. The storyline sets this film apart from other teen slasher flicks because it focuses on popular urban legands. It starts with a brilliant opening scene, and unfolds quite cleverly until the very end where the killer is revealed. The acting was pretty good and quite convincing as well. The movie presented many teenage characters and the mystery surrounding the killer was both clever and enchanting since there were many possibilities. Nice appearences from Brad Dourif as the gas station attendant and Robert Englund as the college professor who specializes in urban legends. Overall, Urban Legend is a pretty good effort and I really enjoyed it. I recommend this film to anyone who likes teen slasher films and urban legends.

Movie Review: One of the true modern day horror classics
Summary: 5 Stars

I watched this movie with rather low expectations. To be totally honest, I expected something of the "Scream" genre... a not so scary movie with a bunch of "pretty white kids with problems" running around, having sex, and eventually getting offed by some superhuman psycho. Boy, was I surprised!

This has got to be one of the most imaginative horror films I've ever seen. The premise of the film is great and the movie itself is well written. This is not your typical horror film.

On a side note, I have to disagree with the reviewer who said that previous knowledge of urban legends ruins the movie. I've followed urban legends ever since I learned how to read. I knew about most (if not all) of the urban legends that were used in the film. It didn't ruin it for me.
