Movie Review: It Came From Sci-Fi
Summary: 4 Stars

Another reviewer noted that this would be a very good Saturday night flick for the Sci-Fi Channel. Well, I saw it on Thursday - so there! And, in my judgment, it was an excellent horror movie. I mean, it was genuinely scary and exciting. Unlike yet another reviewer, I didn't fall asleep during the first hour; though, to be honest, if I hadn't been so taken with the opening credits, I might have turned it off during the first 10 or 15 minutes. After that, though, it really got good. The thing that kept me interested was the pacing. The last 20 minutes or so (as yet a third reviewer noted) were very frenetic; but the pace leading up to that was, in my opinion, almost picture perfect - the result being that you never knew exactly what would happen or when it would happen (kind of like it would be if it were happening in real life); not did you know exactly who would survive and who wouldn't. And even at the end, it wasn't entirely an "Oh here comes the monster now!" kind of reaction. Anyway, I'm going to buy the film so I can watch it without the constant commercial breaks. (OK, maybe then the pacing won't look so picture perfect). I just want to add one more thing: normally I go very much by the Amazon customer reviews when deciding whether or not to get a movie I haven't seen (e.g., I avoided getting "The Strangers" because of the bad reviews). In this case, though, I would have missed a movie that I really did like, if I hadn't seen it on TV first.
