Movie Reviews of Ultraviolet (Unrated, Extended Cut)Movie Review: It's a comic book movie. Summary: 5 StarsWow, what a straight across the board mix of reviews. I liked it to begin with, but once I watched the making of it, as well as Milla's narrative throughout the entire movie (which is such a great option) I was hooked. Filmed in Shanghai China, I thought it was all CGI, but in fact, most of the architecture is the real deal, never mind how well the CGI itself comes across. I am floored at the technical aspects and attention to artistic detail that Wimmer put into this film. And lets keep one thing in mind also. This is a rendering of ideas from a comic book, not 12 angry men, or psycho. It's supposed be outlandish and impossible. My point is, it's meant to be a Disneyland roller coaster ride. Nothing more, and with that in mind, it is superb. Say what you will...I think it's a masterpiece of visual art and creativity. I laughed my butt off when in the narrative, Milla shouts WOO HOO when they show the shot of her naked butt! She explains it as a total boys moment. HEHE! How true. Hilarious. That's my 2 cents.
Movie Review: WATCH the unrated edition ONLY Summary: 5 StarsAs the story goes,
Director writes and shoots interesting movie. Spends too much time in the edit bay perfecting it, studio grows impatient at the time it's taking and hires someone to come in and quickly hack together something they can throw into theaters. Thus the theatrical version of this movie is released.
Movie looks cool but story is total crap. Movie Tanks.
Studio decides to throw together an "Unrated Edition" which is really just a cut closer to what the director intended, and you get this edition of the movie, which is 50 times BETTER. The story isn't super-awesome, but it works and is much better. Maybe one day we'll get a true directors cut.
Movie Review: Ultraviolet - Good movie Summary: 4 StarsUltraviolet [Blu-ray]
I'm slowly replacing DVD versions of movies I really think would be good to watch in high definition (Blu-ray) and this movie is definitely pretty good visually. Typical special effects but look so much better in Blu-ray.
Movie Review: If You Don't Like Ultraviolet, You Missed the Point Summary: 5 StarsI've seen a buttload of poor reviews for this flick, rendered by critics who seemingly expected something more than Milla Jovovich spinning and pivoting and massacring all comers. These critics obviously don't understand the drooling fans of Milla Jovovich -- we DON'T CARE that the story is aimless, that the pace is dizzying, or that the violence is mindless. It's all about Milla, you dolts. We LOVE her.
So, for those contemplating whether or not to purchase the DVD, I can tell you right now to save your money -- because, if you're still deliberating, you're no fan of Milla Jovovich. Those of us who long ago succumbed to her many, many charms and talents won't think twice about adding this as a PRIZED addition to our MJ collections. It's a beautiful film and a perfect vehicle for Milla's ongoing sci-fi vixen mystique.
Movie Review: UltraAwful Summary: 1 StarsTerrible. Just another low budget CGI Hollywood action flick crap fest. Only saw the first 1/3 of this junk but that was more than enough. Zero stars. Some of the scenes and stupid dialogue might be funny if your stoned. If you watch mostly stuff like this it does to your brain what a steady diet of mostly candy and McDonald's does to your other organs.
