Movie Reviews of U2: 360° at the Rose Bowl [Blu-ray]

Movie Review: Magnifico!! I should not have listened to the whiners reviews!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I will start by saying that I have just about every Live U2 DVD released including the Slane Castle Gig, Sydney Australia, Mexico City, Chicago, Red Rocks, Milan and more....
I waited a while for the $10 mark on this DVD because of the poor reviews.... But I am sorry I did! This Rose Bowl DVD is awesome!! What the whiners do not understand (Now I know why Bono wrote the song with or without you) is that this show was in Los Angeles!! the whole concert is geared to honor Hollywood and LA! that includes special effects and color!! People complaining about a "grainy" look to this HD concert? Maybe you did not notice that they used colored lighting almost exclusively?? HD is not going to have a "SHARP" picture you expect in this type of lighting environment!! In my opinion it was refreshingly different, with almost surreal type effects the band & fans at times seem to glow in neon colors almost like a blend between Tron, Terminator and Fantasia!! I think they added graininess to some of the clips intentionally for effect as well. Yes there is a lot of cuts in the film with quick takes, but have you watched many MTV videos(Headquartered in SO CAL) or Hollywood action films lately??
The filming for this show is executed flawlessly between the musicians and the music in a genius type manner, catching the emotions of the band and dancing back and forth between every note of their dynamic and ever changing music and melodies. Regarding the audio, They did an amazing job recording & mixing for this DVD & the musical performance spans through U2's 30 year catalog of tracts flawlessly hitting the old and new.
Yes Bono is human and is aging (rather gracefully) But, after 30 years of singing Rock and Roll and touring more than any other band, I was impressed with Bono's voice not to mention his unbelievable energy and grace for this show.
Some people really do have high expectations of this band and their productions.. Just remember... they sing about the Trinity but they are not God. When They fall short of perfection the whiners have the nails ready to hammer...
Yes I too, can not wait for U23D live from Argentina to be released! But in the mean-time I am thoroughly enjoying this magic night that was captured at the Rose bowl USA with 100,000+ fans... and a U2BD for this new price?
"One day you will look... back
And you'll see... where
You were held... how
By this love... while
You could stand there
You could move on this moment
Follow this feeling
It's all right, it's all right, it's all right
She moves in mysterious ways"

Summary of U2: 360° at the Rose Bowl [Blu-ray]

U2'S RECORD BREAKING ROSE BOWL CONCERT
Filmed on 25th October 2009

U2360° At The Rose Bowl was the penultimate gig of last year's U2360° tour in support of their Grammy-nominated album No Line on The Horizon. The Rose Bowl performance was the band's biggest show of 2009 and U2's biggest ever US show, with a live audience in excess of 97,000. The show was also streamed across seven continents via YouTube. The first ever live streaming of a full-length stadium concert, U2360° at the Rose Bowl had over 10 million views on the channel in one week.

Shot entirely in HD, the concert was filmed with 27 cameras and directed by Tom Krueger who had previously worked on U23D, the first live action 3D concert movie taken from U2's Vertigo Tour. Available in standard and two disc deluxe DVD formats, U2360° At The Rose Bowl will also be U2's first concert available in Blu-ray. The deluxe formats and the Blu-ray will feature a new documentary called Squaring the Circle: Creating U2360°, with new interviews from U2, Paul McGuinness and the team behind the touring production.
