Movie Reviews of U TurnMovie Review: Jennifer Lopez gets drilled Summary: 5 Stars
This is probably one of the biggest all star casts of all time. But who really cares?? The best thing about this film, is that Jennifer Lopez get banged from behind by Nick Nolte in a reasonably graphic sex scene. It's absolutely awesome. Nick Nolte takes her from behind and just drills her and the pained expression on Lopez's face is just such a turn on.
I dont have a stop time for this great moment in cinematic history, but just watch the film for this 30 seconds of sheer brilliance. I know actors always say that they dont get turned on by the scenes, as they are "just acting", but Nick Nolte must have LOVED bending over Lopez and just banging her naked body senseless....watching her back ripple every time he slammed into her...looking at her clean shaven snatch glistening in front of him....Lopez is so hot in this film and she looks about 25 in it. Great great viewing. A must watch scene and its worth watching the whole film, JUST for this moment. I now await Britney Spears to get involved in film, with the hope that Nick Nolte (probably now in his 70's, but still a sexual Tyrannasaurus) pummles Spears into an oblivion too.
Hope that helps.
Movie Review: "Your lies are old, but you tell them well." Summary: 5 Stars
Oliver Stone crawls through Quentin Tarentino's home turf here in this adaptation of John Ridley's Stray Dogs--it's as black and violent as a film can be, sort of Pulp Fiction meets Reservoir Dogs in the heat. Brilliant casting makes U Turn sizzle like roadkill on an Arizona blacktop. Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez. Billy Bob Thornton, and Nick Nolte dig right to the heart of human darkness, and an absolutely unrecognizable Jon Voight appears as the blind Indian wise man who is likely none of those things. Surely many viewers will find the level of violence and the completely depraved characters unappealing at best--my wife walked away less than halfway through. But I was riveted by the story, the characters, the action, and the stylistic approach Stone takes, with heavy use of filters and quick cuts to ravens, bleached skulls, setting suns, old photographs, and the like. That approach and the eerie score by Ennio Morricone also reminded me of David Lynch's Twin Peaks. It's surely not a movie for the mainstream, but I'm glad I saw it.
Movie Review: 'Your lies are old.....but you tell them pretty well.' Summary: 5 Stars
Destined to be a cult classic U turn has to be the finest 'non conformist' movie of recent years. Panned in some critical circles no doubt thanks at least partly to Oliver Stone's high profile, due for a fall persona, U turn is a warts and all no holds bar trawl through the dark underbelly of the American psyche. Stone and the writer Ridley take great pleasure in subverting just about every movie cliche you could think of in true Shakespearean style. The ensemble acting is masterly, Nolte coming across as a combination of Lee Marvin and Sterling Hayden with a pair of knashers (his own I think) Bugs Bunny would be proud of. Thornton hams it up hilariously. Lopez, Danes, Phoenix, Boothe, Voight all deliver in spades. Holding it all together Penn's performance is faultless. Stand out scene must go to the old lady literally blowing 'Bobbie Cooper's' lifeline into smithereens. Coupled with the classic Morricone score and you have an AIP lover driven into rapture.
Movie Review: Stone lets his hair down with hilarious results Summary: 5 Stars
After several more serious-minded "message" films like "JFK" and "Natural Born Killers," the movie "U-Turn" found Oliver Stone just having his own twisted fun with the film-noir genre. And the result is a hilarious, relentless, and quite riveting thriller. Yes it is a black comedy. But it's also an epic meditation on being trapped. Superior, Arizona is a metaphor for all of life's traps, both those that are thrust upon us and those that we step into deliberately. Bobby Cooper (Sean Penn) is a scumbag, but one we can completely identify with, at least I did. For me, the most disturbing scene was where Toby N. Tucker (brilliantly played by Joaquin Phoenix) tears up Cooper's bus ticket. The reason it was disturbing is because I was completely caught up in the characters. See "U-Turn" for its sharp, incisive script by John Ridley, wonderful performances and Stone's cinematic bravura.
Movie Review: Very refreshing and fun Oliver Stone film!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I'm not a big fan of Oliver Stone but this movie was awesome! Sean Penn does a great job of portraying the lowlife and is always believable. He could have carried this film on his own but he has a great supporting cast along with him! The scenes involving the disgusting mechanic played by BillyBob I could watch over and over again! Jennifer Lopez is sizzling as the seductive young housewife looking for a way out. There are some unsettling scenes which might repulse some but nothing too over the top. The quick-cut style of filmaking and overacting that made Natural Born Killers so annoying is toned down and really works in this film. Nothing much in the way of extras on the DVD unfortunately but this movie doesn't need any. It's over two hours of action, thrills and fun!!! Don't miss!!!
