Movie Reviews of Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive CollectionMovie Review: Outstanding Series Summary: 5 StarsThis is without doubt one of the most outstanding series ever aired on television. Rod Serling was a creative genius, one of the truly great talents of the golden age of television drama. This is the thinking man and woman's first class science fiction. We are absolutely delighted with this multi DVD set, including its special features and advertisements of the sixties. You can enjoy these epidodes over and over again. They feature very well known film and TV stars as well as marvelous casts of fine character actors. We recommend this product without reservation.
Movie Review: The very definition of a "Definitive Collection" Summary: 5 StarsThe Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive Collection is the measuring stick by which all other television collections should be judged. If this was the case, all others would fall short. This set is perfect in functionality and in fashion.
First of all, the box set is absolutely gorgeous. One main box houses five smaller cases which fold open like books to reveal the disks in their plastic "pages." The whole set is holographic, which adds a very nice splendor to the set when it first comes out of its wrapping. Each of the five sets represents a season of the show and comes with 6 discs (seasons 1, 4, 5) or 5 discs (seasons 2, 3), as well as a paper guide with a plot synopsis, picture, and list of special features for each included episode.
Now let's talk substance. All 156 episodes aired from the shows initial airing in 1959 to cancellation in 1964 are present and are more beautiful than ever. This show still looks very good, and the black and white is a style that I never tire of watching. Nearly every episode, I would estimate at least 90%, is accompanied by bonus features, spanning from commentary to isolated scores to creator Rod Serling's speeches and presentations to interviews, and even broadcasts of the episode as a radio drama! There is really no other television collection out there that is this utterly complete. And that's to say nothing of the quality if the show itself! I've always had a deep affinity for the Twilight Zone, but exorbitant prices made it ludicrous to buy the entire series on DVD (five sets of randomly placed episodes out of order for one hundred dollars apiece with nine discs in a set!) Imagine my excitement when I find this collection on Amazon for less than $200! Now I have all the episodes in one beautiful, convenient box set.
Unbeatable show in an unbeatable set with unbeatable special features for an unbeatable price. Buy this. Now!
Movie Review: No video library is complete without this DVD set. Summary: 5 StarsThis set is well done and delivery was quick. If you want to relive the uniqueness of the 60's, order this set. You won't regret it. I watch at least one episode everyday.
Movie Review: What a great buy!!! Summary: 5 StarsAfter reading the various reviews from fellow co-buyers, I decided to add this set to my collection. I'm so glad that I did. The quality of the transfers to DVD is the best I've ever seen, & the shelf space this set takes up for a 28 disc set is very small. It contains tons of extras & the price breaks down to a little more than a $1.00 per episode. It was delivered in 3 days & I'm super pleased with everything--price, quality, delivery. One reviewer said it might help the economy to buy this set, so I took him up on his advice. Anybody that likes this series should highly consider adding this to their collection. A GREAT DEAL!!! Five stars all the way!!!
Movie Review: Great television series Summary: 4 StarsExcept for the poor packaging which used "easily-breaks" plastic instead of the "soft" or "bendable" plastic, this DVD set is fantastic and it even has captions (unlike the Poirot series). Rod Serling was truly a genius!
