Movie Reviews of Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive Collection

Movie Review: Beware: The chapter thumbnails give away the twists!
Summary: 4 Stars

For those who are already familiar with the TZ episodes, the content on these DVDs is top-notch.

However, there is one unforgivable problem with the DVDs: they give away the plot twists! When you go to play an episode, you are taken to a scene/chapter selector. There are always four points you can jump to. Each of the four has a conveniently large thumbnail and the chapter title. The problem is, the third scene always depicts the climax of the episode! (The fourth scene is Rod's epilogue.) Now, unless you are consciously averting your eyes, you will likely catch an unwitting glimpse of the pic or chapter name of the third scene while you try to actually start playing the title. In many episodes, this is enough to take away the "surprise". In some episodes, like "Invaders", "To Serve Man", or "The Dummy", this is particularly bad. These DVDs are still a must-have for any fan -- but those who aren't already familiar with all the episodes are warned to be careful with the scene selection page!

Movie Review: twilight zone complete series
Summary: 5 Stars

Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive CollectionAbsolutely magnificent!! There are more than enough glowing reviews about all of the great shows in this series, but I wanted to mention some things regarding a few complaints about the "physical" condition of some of the discs. There were a few mentions of "scuff marks", "scratches" and "fingerprint smudges". Don't worry too much about it....
I used to work at EMI(Canada), the Canadian division for the worldwide record company, and though I usually worked in the warehouse, I sometimes helped out in the factory section during rush releases. First of all, cds and dvds are not iserted into their plastic holders by machines, but rather, by actual human beings, and secondly, we would have to pull each disc in a series, up and off, of a long metal spindle. When doing something like this for a huge order, (especially something as big as a 28 disc set!), it's nearly impossible not to get the odd fingerprint, smudge, scuff marks (from other discs on spindles, etc.), and occasional plastic dust, on some csds and dvds. Of course the factory is clean and tidy, and workers make every effort not to touch, or fumble the discs, but you've got to expect a few slight (usually harmless) flaws in large rush-release, gigantic boxset orders! I too, had a few of these on about three of my discs, but I immediately understood. If you find the odd small scratch, or two, smudges, tiny plastic particles or whatever, just blow off any particles, then gently dab the area (on the disc), with a soft damp cloth, and dry it the same way with a dry soft cloth. Scratches and scuff marks will remain, but it should still play beautifully.
Finally, regarding problems some have had with releasing the discs from the holders, I found that it was easiest when applying the most pressure to the middle holding spindle, while gently pulling the outer edges of the discs, here and there. Other than that, enjoy!

Movie Review: Classic stuff
Summary: 5 Stars

Wonderful, quality television, just a good time. Great to sit and savor as you watch.

Movie Review: Classic televison
Summary: 5 Stars

Outstanding television series from the 60's. Extremely well written and each performance a true gem. Each plot is intriguing and well thought out. Surprise endings that make Mr.Serling the very best at what he is now so famous for. Many soon to be famous actors can be seen here. This is vintage TV at its finest. A must have for any collector of classic/sci fi/horror early television. The Definitive Complete Collection is a real find. It is the series in its entirety. You will not be disappointed!

Movie Review: A Brilliant Series
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought "The Twilight Zone--The Complete Definitive Collection" from Amazon last year. Of all the classic television series that I own, I probably take the most pride in "The Twilight Zone". Rod Serling, the series creator and writer of most episodes, not only had an astonishing imagination, his scripts also dared to comment on racism, ageism, enthocentrism, and other societal ills. I am sure that Mr. Serling ran the risk of raising the ire of network executives and sponsors, as this was an era when such social commentary was not particularly appreciated nor expected from prime-time commercial television. I am amazed at the progressive tone of these shows, and even more amazed that those themes are just as relevant today, as they were when first broadcast nearly a half century ago.
