Movie Reviews of Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive CollectionMovie Review: Now I can go to the Twilight Zone anytime. Summary: 5 StarsPlain and simpe the Twilight Zone rocks. I had cable a while back and always caught it on the SCI-FI channel and just loved the episodes they ran. I was always anxious for the New Years 2 day marathon. I moved away and cancelled my cable. After a while I kept cravin' some TZ. When I saw the Definitive Collection was out I knew it'd be a good investment. Not only have I got all the great episodes I always enjoyed, but I'm also discovering other good episodes I didn't see on cable. It just keeps on giving. The special features aren't that great, but they're still pretty interesting. Without a doubt a must have for any TZ fan.
Movie Review: Great television! Summary: 5 StarsThe Twilight Zone: The Complete Definitive Collection provides hours of entertaining television, replete with great writing and fine acting. You never again have to say 'I haven't seen that episode in years, I'd love to see it again'. They're all there, just waiting to be watched. Rod Serling is a masterful writer and he's such a delight to listen to, as he explains each episode. It's a great treat for anyone who enjoys the suspenseful, the whimsical and just plain terrific storytelling.
Movie Review: How could I NOT buy this? But... Summary: 5 StarsIf you're even 1% of the Twilight Zone fan I am, you couldn't even consider not grabbing this set, regardless of any imperfections. This point is largely irrelevant, since most of the quality is as good as you could hope for; and I would have bought this set even without the many extras that they put into it. Considering the quality overall, I am that much more astonished at the poor quality of one of my many favorite episodes.
I'm admittedly greedy when it comes to favorite episodes of The Twilight Zone; it would be a very long list. When I'd seen them broadcast, I'd always assumed that certain episodes (e.g., "Twenty-Two," "Night of the Meek," "The Whole Truth") were the earliest ones, because they have that weird, harsh look (and, sometimes, sound) of the earliest television shows not recorded on film. Now that I own them all and can see them all in order, I see that those episodes I'd believed were the earliest were actually from the second season. So, I have no idea why the quality of those few differs so from the rest.
The one inexplicable disappointment I had with this set involves the quality of the episode somewhat coincidentally named "Static." I've seen it many times, and it never looked this bad; so, I can't understand why they didn't use a cleaner copy to digitize for this set. Given the overall high level of quality, the problems in this episode in particular are that much more unaccountable to me. I believe that they should have made the effort to obtain a cleaner copy to digitize to bring "Static" up to the standard of the rest of the set. That said, I am still overwhelmingly pleased with my purchase.
Movie Review: twilight zone series Summary: 5 Starsthis is my favorite black and white tv show, where else can you see all your favorite stars performing in some of the best written shows ever on tv.
Movie Review: TAKE ME BACK TO THE 50'S Summary: 5 StarsI was so thrilled that I found the entire series on dvd. I used to look forward to seeing this weekly when it was on tv originally. No, I'm not old, I'm vintage.
I am more than impressed with the quality of this set. The picture and sound are pristine.
This set was very expensive, but worth every cent. I highly recommend this for collectors that enjoy 50's and 60's sci-fi.
