The authenticity, the pain, the reality of the history woven throughout never lets up. It is a story of good people, whose lives are captured in the throes and agony of an emerging, adolecent nation. They make real mistakes and sometimes they hurt the ones that they love the most.This is not a story for those who like their sterotypes kept nice and neat. Nobody, male or female, white or red, yankee or rebel, gets off free. They struggle; they sweat, they have prejudices; they learn. In the end, they learn one of the most important lesson of all, to forgive one another and move on.
It is a powerful tale, told of powerful people that sweeps the viewer along. The story tells of historical events, dramatic changes, and it just happens to be about women.
