Movie Review: great epic
Summary: 5 Stars
Its a shame that such an epic as troy can get a rating lower then 4 stars. It has all the ingredients of a great movie. I dont care if it is historicaly accurate or not. The movie is based of the illiad and the trojan war which has never been proven to be factual according to history. As far as Im concerned it is Greek mythology and nothing more or nothing less. Enjoy the movie for what it is, a movie based on a poem written by Homer a very long time ago and trust me this movie is way better then the 3 and a half stars it is given. Its right up there with movies like BraveHeart, Gladiator and the likes of 300.Movie Review: Achilles vs. Hector makes this one worth watching.

This is the best epic action film since Braveheart, even better than Gladiator. Brad Pitt as Achilles is so convincing you will not doubt the legend of the man one bit.
I could go on and on about the greatness of this film. I could also go on and on about it's flaws. I will, however, concentrate on one statement:
Troy has the greatest single combat footage I've ever seen in a movie as the fight between Hector (Eric Bana) and Achilles is the true climax of this great action film.
The athletic prowess taking place between Bana and Pitt is so convincing that you are certain the two are actually fighting it out for real. It never occurs to the viewer that the scene is pure acting by professionals who know how to spoof up a scene to capture an audience's attention. What a fight this was. It didn't carry on too long and it wasn't too short. The timing and moves of the action are emotively powerful. The only flaw is that it's clear from the beginning that Achilles is going to win the confrontation. That doesn't detract, however, from the power of this combat sequence. I recommend that this film is watched just for this few minutes worth of highlight.
But, beware when watching this film. You might decide that you like all of it despite some overacting at some parts and some serious revisionism of the original Greek myth story. It is an action myth that is well worth watching at least once. Get the Director's Cut and watch the extended movie. You'll be more than satisfied and I'll almost guarantee that for you.

The directors cut is just added footage of the battle sequences and scenes that were cut out for a reason. Sadly, the theatrical cut isn't included. All of this aside, this is an awesome collector's item with plenty of goodies for fans of the film.Movie Review: best version of troy

do not be bothered and buy any other troy version but this one! Excellent picture and audio quality, stacked with extras and over 1 hour of extra footage full of blood and gore! A MUST BUY!
