Movie Reviews of Troop Beverly Hills

Movie Review: 4 Stars

Troop Beverly Hills is just that...FABULOUS! I have always loved this movie. Perhaps it's because I too have a black belt in shopping. Shelley Long plays Phyllis Neffler, a rich Beverly Hills woman undergoing a divorce from the husband she still loves. At the same time, she joins her daughter's Wildnerness Girls troop as the leader to get more involved in her daughter's life. Little does Phyllis realize that not only will she become a wonderful role model to them, but they all help her get through her problems as well. Phyllis is up against a tyrant of a captain for the Wilderness Girls who is hellbent on stopping Troop Beverly Hills from being a part of the Wilderness Girls for good. But Phyllis finds the niche for these girls to fit into. The whole thing is good, silly late 80's fun. Shelley Long is hilarious. Plus, look for Tori Spelling as one of the Red Feathers. This is a great movie, but I'm not sure that the guys will like it. For me, it's one of my favorites. Enjoy!

Movie Review: Great!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

"Troop Beverly Hills" was another one of the childhood favorites. I would imagine what it would be like to not only live in Beverly Hills, but also imagine what it would be like to be in their Wilderness Girl Troop.

"Troop Beverly Hills" is about a woman (Shelley Long), who is about to be divorced and wants to do something that will bring her and a her daughter closer. She decides to be the troop leader of the Beverly Hills chapter of the Wilderness Girls, a ficticious version of the Girl Scouts. It is hilarious to watch the Beverly Hill troop do things that the other troops never thought these girls could accomplish due to their money and upbringing.

This is a very feel-good type of movie that will warm your heart. I would definitely suggest it to children and adults alike. It's a movie that you can watch with your entire family! You will not be disappointed!!!

Movie Review: Cute little film BUT WHERE IS THE WIDE SCREEN?
Summary: 4 Stars

I have always enjoyed this film.

Not a box office hit when released.

So, you know there are NO EXTRAS on this DVD. I did NOT expect any.

My complaint about this DVD-no choice to see the film wide screen!!

Well, MOST OF THE FILM.

I have NEVER understood this but they show the opening credits & a few seconds of the film widescreen but then go to full screen.

Why? Makes no sense.

Film makers learn by your mistakes. If you had the choice of wide screen/full screen for the film it may encourage people who have never seen it to view it & maybe buy the DVD on their own.

And, you see the cameos of several celebrities which is note worthy.

Movie Review: It's Cookie Time
Summary: 4 Stars

Campy and cliche. Shelly Long at her best. Supported by a cast of "characters" (Craig T Nelson, Betty Thomas, Mary Gross, Tori Spelling [ugh], Shelley Morrison) and chock full of cameos (Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello, Cheech Marin, Ted McGinley, Joyce Brothers, Robin Leach, Pia Zadora). This tale underscores the need for communication, self esteem and understanding of different perspectives. How does a poor kid survive in the jungle of Beverly Hills when she seems/is/acts more mature than her parents? Quite well actually. Most fun segment is "Cookie Time." Best character interaction: Anything between Betty Thomas and Shelly Long.

Movie Review: Fun family film!
Summary: 4 Stars

Troop Beverly Hills is the perfect fun "girls night" film with hilarious throw-backs to our Girl Scout days. The plot centers around the failing marriage of Phyllis Nefler and Freddy Nefler. When Phyllis agrees to become the leader of her daughter's wilderness girl troop, she hopes it will show him that she's still the woman he married. As she leads Troop Beverly Hills through thick and thin, the movie is funny, heart-warming, and entertaining. Shelly Long stars.
